MAY 2, 25.. KROGER STORES.. SELF-DIRECTED ANGER.. SENIOR MOMENTS..
This Post is about yesterday, Thursday the 1st of May. It is for Michael 86403, who got Patti and me involved in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Kroger Company affiliate store, Smith’s.

FWIW (For What It’s Worth), in my opinion, the absolutely worst anger is anger we direct at ourselves stemming from something that we say or actions that we do to ourselves. Yes Oh Yes, in more than a few ways, we are our own worst enemies. Self directed anger can create depression and other emotional challenges.
ANGER is one letter from the word DANGER. Put the letter D in front of the word ANGER and you have DANGER.

KROGER FUEL POINT PROGRAM..
The Kroger Company operates 2,719 grocery retail stores under its various banners and divisions in 35 states (mostly in the South, Midwest and West) and the District of Columbia.
IF you have been following us here on dotnet for any length of time, you are probably aware that the Kroger Stores have a fuel discount program. On the surface it is very simple. For each $1 you spend in your local Kroger Store, you get 1 fuel point. For each $100 you spend, you get 100 fuel points and you get a 10¢ per gallon discount on the cost of gasoline at the Kroger Fuel Centers. Earn 1,000 fuel points, you get a $1 dollar discount on each gallon of gasoline.
Yes there are all sorts of other factors. Often on Friday you get 4 fuel points per $1 spent. Spend $25 you earn 100 fuel points. You get 50 fuel points if you do a once a week survey of your Kroger Store purchases. And “so on”.
$4.559 street price less $3.049 is a $1.55 per gallon discount on my gasoline. Pump 20 gallons and I saved $31.00. Not bad. NOT BAD AT ALL!
Yes Oh Yes. The price of gasoline itself goes up and it goes down.
$3.799 above the street price less my discounted price below of $2.749 is a discount of $1.05 per gallon.
Two very important factors. You must use 100 fuel points at a time. Your fuel points expire (run out, disappear, are gone) one month after the month you earn them.

For going on three years, I have been involved in the Kroger Fuel Point Program.
Trust me, I know the ins, and I know the outs of the Kroger Fuel Point program.
Yes Oh Yes. Is IS a lot of work to maximize your fuel points.

SENIOR MOMENT .. One that I had yesterday, Thursday, the 1st of May, 2025.
Yes Oh Yes. I was angry. I was sad. I was upset at myself. All of the outside you’s in this world were absolutely, totally, innocent.
This past Wednesday, the 30th of April, was the very last day that I could use my 603 April (accumulated last March) Fuel Points worth a 60¢ a gallon discount on gasoline!
SENIOR MOMENT
I absolutely, I totally, forgot Wednesday was the last day of the month. I was thinking (SENIOR MOMENT) that April had 31 days.
So yesterday I sadly said to Patti, “I just lost six hundred and three Fuel Points because I forgot yesterday was the last day of April!”
I was angry at myself. I was disappointed with myself. I was upset at myself.
I went to the local Kroger store (Fred Meyer) gasoline station and I was told, “Oh I am so sorry Sir BUT there is nothing that we can do to restore your last months Fuel Points!”
And home I came. I was really upset at myself. Not at you. Not at Patti. At myself.

Then “I got to thinking.” Hummmm, I wonder. It’s worth a try. I will call the Kroger Company 800 toll free Customer Service phone number. A number that, Yes Oh Yes, I have called numerous times and have pretty much always gotten a problem with Fuel Points resolved.
“This is Martin with Kroger’s Customer Service, how may I help you?”
Fifteen minutes later..
“Sir! I have just successfully rolled over your 603 April Fuel Points into May. Is there anything else I can help you with?”
I sure gave Martin a flattering report when asked to evaluate my phone call experience!
Good. GOOD PEOPLE, the Kroger Store employees!
I was upset. But I didn’t “live with being upset” too long! Within one hour, the issue was 100% resolved.

Well, that reads harshly, which was not my intention. Nonetheless, I just can’t-see getting wrought up over a few gas points. A kick in the butt as a reminder to not forget, yes, but not anger. It is what it is.
Gullible, Yes! What happened, happened. On the positive side, within an hour, I had resolved the issue 100% with Kroger. I did NOT worry or fret too long. Cap
Cap, we are birds of a feather….that gather Smiths Fuel Points….together! I most definitely relate to the anguish of ‘forgetting’ about using my fuel points for a discounted fuel price! I have shopped for many types of discounts for a lifetime! There is a certain feeling of accomplishment when gathering discounts, saving a few $, and not letting corporate greed take advantage of my pocketbook! And I have numerous friends, women and men, alike, that look at discounted shopping as a form of ‘Retail Therapy!’ BOOM! And then there are folks who don’t feel the vicarious thrills that you and I do when we take the time to seek, accumulate, and then apply a discount to sometimes ridiculously profit driven high prices. I feel it is taking time out to become a bit more attuned to exactly just how vendors and corp’s are taking advantage of the average consumer. I mean, after all is said and done would one rather purchase gasoline at FULL price….or do some gaming in the background and wind up with $1.05 per gallon discount? Our choice. Our savings. Then again, not all consumers care one iota about being a bit more discerning about prices. Their choice. A different perspective. That’s it. We will ALL never be fully aligned in our thinking nor interactions with life. To each their own. I personally get immense gratification when I apply myself and get a better price! Smiths grocers and their customer service reps have been very generous with you and I, eh? I’ll finish with this: The only dumb question is the one not asked! Right? Similarly, the only phone call not made is the one that perhaps we can find a common solution if we work together. Sometimes the solution stares us right into our eyes. I can’t speak for you but I will be a fierce shopper of discounts for my lifetime!

I like that Michael. We two are Birds of a Feather! Crocodile Dundee would say: NOW THAT’S A COMMENT MATE! You are right on. Some of us like getting discounts and others seem to have a lot of money and have no interest in pursuing discounts. You taught me more than a few of the ins and the outs as to Kroger Stores Fuel Discount Program. But it goes far past that Michael. If anyone can say that never ever in their entire lifetime have they been a little upset or ever (dare I say it) angry at themselves then we need to enshrine them in some far away temple up on a mountaintop.
