JUN 9, 25.. DONALD DUCK? .. Are You Kidding Captain?..

What can Patti and I say except that we got a chuckle or two or three from NATIONAL TODAYS DONALD DUCK DAY..

IF just one of you reading along with us today gets a chuckle or even a small smile, we’re happy..

Let’s all celebrate on June 9 — National Donald Duck Day!

Donald Duck’s full name is ‘Donald Fauntleroy Duck’.

Donald is an American Peking duck. His species of duck was mainly bred in China. They didn’t become popular in the U.S. until 1873. Interestingly enough, the Peking duck made its stateside debut in Long Island, but Donald’s accent doesn’t reflect that. This only further demonstrates his acting genius.

Donald Duck made his cartoon debut in “The Wise Little Hen” back on June 9th, 1934. But Donald wouldn’t meet Mickey Mouse until his second appearance in “Orphan’s Benefit” later that year. From there, it wasn’t long before Daisy Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie were introduced. In spite of their superior diction, they weren’t able to steal the spotlight from Donald. You can’t replace his grumpy charm, and it’s why Donald Duck has been in more movies (200+) than any Disney character.

What do you give to a duck that has it all?

His own holiday!

Both Patti and I were very happy that last night, the Oklahoma City Thunder won game 2 of their NBA Championship Series with the Indiana Pacers by a score of 123 – 107. It is now a “Best of 5 series”. Game 3 is this upcoming Wednesday June the 11th at 8:3opm on ABC Television.
