Odd!

Just the other day, Patti brought up the word Geek and we discussed it.

When we think of a Geek, we often think of someone who wears thick glasses, has a pocket protector, and buttons their shirt all the way to the neck. We think of a Geek as someone who is obsessed with a hobby or intellectual topic.

Why on earth am I writing the word: Odd

Yes Oh Yes. Many, maybe most of us, think Geeks are odd.

BUT we are writing about Geeks because..

It is odd because look what showed up just a few days later on June the 20th!

Going beyond desk exercise, National Hike with a Geek Day on June 20 summons the Techies, Geeks, I.T. Gurus, and Gamers to push away the keyboard and strike out across the inviting landscapes of nature.

Hello all of you hikers! Let’s take a hike with a Geek.

National Hike with a Geek Day is celebrated every year on June 20.

The purpose of this day is to promote healthy activity in people who otherwise work in sedentary jobs throughout the year, such as I.T. professionals, many of whom some of us call “Computer Geeks”, accountants, and so forth. 

The basic philosophy behind celebrating this day is that people who work in solitary roles, spending long hours working on a computer rather than interacting with people need some kind of opportunity to meet other people and connect with them emotionally and psychologically. Hence the need for celebrating a special day when ‘Geeks’ can spend time outdoors (I love this) with others of the same tribe. The day is widely celebrated across the United States with a growing membership.

THE NBA FINALS – GAME 6..

Patti and I “turned our TV, and the game off” at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Final score..

The game was NOT this close! Three words say it all, the Ruthless Pacers Overwhelmed and Throttled the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Game 7 is at 8PM Eastern Time this Sunday the 22nd of June IN Oklahoma City. This will be the first Game 7 in the NBA Finals since 2016.

Cap and Patti

Both Patti and myself are somewhat mentally numb, extremely depressed and worried about our friend of over 30 years (Kathleen) who experienced a brain aneurysm on June the 8th. She will remain in the Intensive Care Unit in a major hospital in California for at least 2 to 3 more weeks. Sad to say, we NEVER KNOW what’s next in this life.
