NATIONAL TODAY can be a Feast or it can be a Famine. Today it was an absolute FEAST. In addition to the below four holidays, there are others we also liked but we have not shown because “enough is enough”! And Yes! I “overdid it” with the below four holidays.

Hello to several NATIONAL TODAY Holidays..

This first Holiday below also “mirrors”, to a large degree, our two above Posts.

FORGIVENESS DAY..

Forgiveness Day is celebrated on 26 June.

The Lord’s Prayer stresses that we should always forgive those who trespass against us. But even in the secular world, forgiveness means different things to different people and today is the day to shed old grievances or grudges and forgive those who have wronged us.

The practice of forgiveness can be traced back thousands of years with mention being made in numerous religious texts. It may seem like a difficult task, but it is merely letting go of anger, hurt, or a desire for vengeance.

How can one argue against this concept!

OK let’s “lighten up” on the serious nature of the above essays.

How about .. a real chuckle!!

WATERMELON SEED SPITTING WEEK..

Watermelon Seed Spitting Week is celebrated from the last Thursday through Sunday in June.

This year, it takes place from June 26 to June 29. Originating in Texas, it involves a four-day festival celebrating all things watermelon, crowned by the very famous watermelon seed spitting contests in many parts of the country. Weekend events include parades, music, food, arts, carnival rides, and melon auctions, which raise funds to sustain local farmers.

NATIONAL WORK FROM HOME DAY..

We saw this Holiday and instantly thought of our great friend Kleiner Bär.

We WILL text Kleiner Bär and mention this Holiday!

On the last Thursday in June we celebrate National Work From Home Day.

This year it is June 26. It’s a chance to recognize the technological and cultural evolutions that allow us as a work culture to be as productive anywhere in the world as we are in the office.

The history of working from home should probably be called the history of working, because for most of human history work was done primarily in, and around, the home.

The last “One For The Road”.

Another “kindda fun” Holiday that piqued our interest.

NATIONAL HANDSHAKE DAY..

National Handshake Day is celebrated on the last Thursday of June each year, falling on June 26 this year.

You know “The Drill”!

Let it go … get over it, this seems to be the theme for the past several days in all my meditations!

There is such freedom in NOT holding onto junk you can’t change anyways, let it go, give it to God, and absorb the peace and joy God has for us in TODAY!

    Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT)
I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Thanks Cap and Patti, much love and joy to you both for this new day!

Thank YOU Ginny for your comment. We whole heartedly agree with you (this seems to be the theme for the past several days in all my meditations!) and we wrote in our Post .. It “mirrors” our Post here on DotNet just two days ago! Smiling. You wrote (I have not achieved it) and we agree, neither have we BUT life is Taa Daa .. “Progress NOT Perfection”! You know Ginny, focusing on Gratitude is such a powerful tool to help us move forward. Your Allies .. Cap and Patti..

I give all glory and praise to God as I understand him/her/Budda/Allah whom I finally accepted in my early sobriety that God never did judge me but rather desired to know his love and compassion and learn to practice that same in our new way of life.
I was just welcoming a newcomer after the 7am mtg and we touched on a lot of ‘old ideas’ i.e., shame, guilt, anger…etc.
I humbly shared with this young lady that I embrace that there is a lot of much needed ‘self’ forgiveness in our quest to change to the new positive ways and ideas.
It takes others empowered/and recovered wisdom to help me change my thinking and interaction with life. Self forgiveness is a big part of my recovery.
And I shared with this newbie, too, that there are other spiritual ideas that will help us to recover such as the non-AA book ‘The Spirituality of Imperfection.’ I humbly believe we all manifest both sides of this and most days I strive to find balance with getting rid of the old, and embracing the new. It’s a process and takes time. Give time….Time!
Little Bit and I pray you both have a Truly Blessed Day. We miss you both and your combined courage, strength and hope.
    Forever love,
    Michael

Michael you really hit a key spiritual principle. Perhaps the greatest challenge in spiritual forgiveness is self-forgiveness. Forgiving our own selves for things that WE have failed to do or that we have done to OURSELVES. We can’t speak for you, but these lines from the Big Book sure helps: We are not Saints. We claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection. Oh the many times that I personally have utterly failed to “Pause when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action.” Thanks so very much for your support and comment Michael.
