OCT 10, 25.. A ROAD RUNNER.. MENTAL HEALTH DAY.. HERNIA REPAIR.. SUICIDE..
This Post has evolved into One Hum Dinger!
So I wanted to start off on an “upbeat and light” manner before we get into some additional serious writing in NATIONAL TODAY about Mental Health and Suicide.

OUR ROADRUNNER..
Tim, down in Lake Havasu City, sent yet another great photo of one of his pet Roadrunners. Yes I have already added it (the very last photo titled “Morning Breakfast”) to our previous Roadrunner Post over on Google Blogspot.

I slipped the above link into this Post just in case some of you have not yet seen the above Roadrunner Post.

Tim titled the above photo “Morning Breakfast”.
Thanks so very much Tim for sharing your Roadrunners with us!

Here we go!
Long Pause.
Two days ago we looked at Dyslexia.
Yesterday we looked at Depression.
Then Ker- Pow! Now we have Mental Health Day and Suicide.
Do we have a “Strike Three and You’re Out”?

The problem is simple. I can not guess who is reading along here with us. Yes Mental Health is a “Weighty and Serious topic”, but at the same time one of legitimate interest to Yours Truly as well as several others.
Just look at the below amazing comment that we received from Kit to yesterday’s Post OCT 9, 25!
I hope this day allows reflection of many good mental health days. After 27 years practicing law I became interested in equine therapy, with the opportunity to assist therapists with animal handling. The therapists appreciated my background knowing of the need for confidentiality, so I have been helping at the barn throughout the past 4+ years I have been in the Black Hills.
Working with the horses, full size, minis and the mini donkeys, allows the client to establish a relationship with their equid while the therapist leads them through ground exercises (no riding, as that is human dominant) to communicate and get feedback from their horse or donk. The animals provide an honest, safe space for healing. As a person starts to regulate emotionally, their communication and ability to lead further establishes their union with their horse. With continued interaction, the horse will regulate our heart rate to match their own leading to clearer thinking and lower anxiety. They, along with their human therapist, create an excellent mental health team for children and adults who need them. I love seeing how it benefits all.
Stay well. Weather is changing. House arrives Monday! Kit

World Mental Health Day is on October 10.
Mental health has come a long way since the early nineties when the World Federation of Mental Health (WFMH) officially established the day.
Words like “crazy” and “lunatic” are used less flippantly.
Yes! We’ve learned a lot as a civilization but there’s still so much more we can do to evolve as a society.
No!
What ever You are going through, You are Not Alone!
Globally, one in four people will need mental health care in their lives.

You all know the drill. IF you would like to further explore World Mental Health Day please click onto the below NATIONAL TODAY Holiday link.

HERNIA REPAIR UPDATE..
One month ago today, on Wednesday, September the 10th, I had hernia repair surgery. Yes we published a Post on September 10th but it only discussed my hernia repair surgery. As you would guess, I was 100% focused on recovering from my surgery!
Today, one full month later, things remain exceptionally stable and well. I am thrilled at how much better “down there” my abdomen feels!

Then, as I was working above on the NATIONAL TODAY MENTAL HEALTH DAY and my hernia repair surgery update, I stumbled upon the below!

World Suicide Prevention Day falls each year on September 10.
Undiagnosed and untreated mental illness is the biggest reason behind suicide.
Suicide is a growing problem and the numbers tell a shocking story. Every 40 seconds someone takes their own life according to the World Health Organization (WHO). That’s about 800,000 people worldwide every year.
Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States.
Suicide is the leading cause of death for people aged 15 to 29. For every suicide that results in death, there are as many as 40 attempted suicides.
What has this to do with Yours Truly?
Yesterday I wrote: My Mother’s twin sister, my Auntie Bea, had three children (my first cousins) who successfully committed suicide!
On August the 6th, 1992, here in Anchorage, Alaska, at a Recovery Meeting, IF the topic of the meeting was not Suicide, Patti and I would have never met one another!
30% – the percentage increase in the rate of death by suicide in the U.S. between 2000 and 2016.
50% – the percentage increase in suicides among girls and women between 2000 and 2016.
10 – the ranking of suicide as the leading cause of death in the U.S.
47,511 – the number of Americans who died by suicide in 2019.
1.38 million – the number of suicide attempts in the U.S. in 2019.
13.93 – the age-adjusted suicide rate per 100,000 individuals.
3.63 – the number of times that men have had higher suicide rates than women in recent years.
69.38% – the percentage of white males who accounted for suicide deaths in 2019.
50.39% – the percentage of all suicides by firearms.
93% – the percentage of Americans surveyed who think suicide can be prevented.

Yes! This is the end!
