Gingerbread “Fits”.

NATIONAL TODAY’S Number One Holiday for December the 12th was Gingerbread House Day.

Here we go again! NATIONAL TODAY has, not one, but two (2) Gingerbread Holidays.

First we have..

GINGERBREAD HOUSE DAY..

Actually Gingerbread Decorating 10th Century (see below) came before Gingerbread Houses in the early 1800’s.

Gingerbread House Day is on December 12..

The best part of building a gingerbread house is eating the sweet treat when we‘re done!

In the 17th century, only professional gingerbread bakers were allowed to make gingerbread, except at Christmas and Easter, when anyone was allowed to bake it.

The tradition of making gingerbread houses started in Germany in the early 1800s. The first gingerbread houses were the result of the well-known Grimm’s fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel.” After this story was published, German bakers began baking ornamented fairy-tale houses made from gingerbread

Gingerbread dough is surprisingly easy to make. You need ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves and molasses . Almost everything else is probably already in your pantry.

At 35.8 million calories and covering an area of 2,520 square feet (nearly the size of a tennis court), a 21 foot high gingerbread house in Bryan, Texas was declared the biggest ever by Guinness World Records.

The largest gingerbread man weighed 1,435 lbs and was made by IKEA Furuset in Oslo, Norway

Gingerbread Decorating Day is celebrated on December 12 every year.

Gingerbread Decorating Day unleashes the hidden artist in us!

Gingerbread was brought to Europe by the Armenian monk, Gregory of Nicopolis, in the 10th century. He brought the necessary spices from the Middle East and then demonstrated gingerbread making, using spices and molasses, to French Christians.

It was in Sweden that painting and decorating gingerbread became popular.
