And Now ..

Part 1 of Paul Harvey’s The Rest of the Mayo Clinic Story

7:50am..  All was going well. In fact all was going extremely well. Nothing could have been better! We got up early. Successfully drove to the Mayo Clinic (translation: We survived the crazy morning rush hour traffic on the Phoenix Loop 101 ) and Patti was “All Checked In” at 6:37am. At 6:40am “Patti was called back.”

Then “Time Stopped”.

7:30am .. Still waiting.. Watched Pots NEVER Boil..

Then I was paid a visit by a Mayo Clinic Nurse that was part of Patti’s Medical Team.

“Cap. We have had a sudden schedule change! We must delay processing Patti’s preparation for her Endoscopy. We have absolutely no idea of when we will resume Patti’s pre-operation preparation! It could even slip into this afternoon!

We can offer you two choices.

You may join Patti in her pre-operation prep area.

You may simply remain out here in the waiting lobby with other relatives of patients.

I replied: I want to join Patti. Period!

“OK fine. Cap you can not bring your computer into Patti’s room.”

“I can’t just leave my things here in the lobby! I will have to take it out to our truck in the parking lot.”

“No problem Cap. You can take whatever time you need. When you return just “waive” to Bill at the check-in counter and Bill will notify me and I will come out and take you back to be with Patti.”

And Now You Know .. The Rest of the Below Story!

Signing Off at 7:50am Wednesday morning March the 4th.. Cap

I took my computer and other accessories to our truck. Came back. Waived at Bill. The nurse came and took me back to Patti’s room.

And Now .. Part 2 of Paul Harvey’s The Rest of the Mayo Clinic Story

In between quite a bit of required medical staff business with Patti, we just held hands and remained calm and comfortable.

10:50am .. Patti’s medical team took Patti to the operating room.

11:06am.. Mayo advised me Patti’s procedure had begun.

11:29am.. Mayo advised me that Patti was in the recovery area.

That’s right. The Endoscopy took about 23 minutes.

Important, until Patti’s medical team studies the findings of todays Endoscopy, we have no idea of what their findings will be.

12noon.. I got our truck and drove it up to the front of the building where Patti (in a wheel chair being pushed by a nurse) was waiting.

And..

Patti, in a great mood, and I headed for our favorite Circle K Fast Food Store on 56th Street North of Bell Road and had an Extra Large Froster.

Stopped to visit a great friend Hugh at Midway Chevrolet across from Motel 6.

Patti and I visited awhile. Then from 2:45pm to 3:30pm I took a nap.

At 4:15pm, in the front office check-in area of Motel 6, I wrote this Post.

Now at 6pm I am going to sign off for now at least.

Survivor is ON tonight.

Survivor was fun.
