APR 14, 26.. SAFE IN LAUGHLIN, NEVADA.. BOOKS.. GARDENING.. EX SPOUSE.. LAWYERS and MORE..

I went back very briefly to the very bottom of “Yesterday’s Newspaper”.

Translation: I went back to yesterday’s APR 13, 26 (2 / 2) Post and wrote the following words: Live Update From Laughlin, Nevada, Monday Evening, April 13th, 2026, 10:26pm: Patti and I are safely in Laughlin, Nevada. We had a trip that was “As good as a short trip can possibly get!”

Whewie! The Clock has jumped ahead to 10:40pm Monday, Evening and I am “Just a Tad South of being totally exhausted.”

All in All yesterday (Monday, April 13, our travel day) couldn’t possibly have gone much better than it did.

Which is NOT to say it wasn’t stressful and exhausting! It actually was a bit of both. I took two actual, “Lay down and take a nap!” breaks because I didn’t want to get into an accident because I was asleep at the wheel. Au contraire we stopped 30 minutes out of Lake Havasu City and took an extremely relaxing “Wendy’s Frosty Break”.

The weather was “Beyond Great”. It was cool (mid 70’s) and windy and we even had a “light touch” of moisture from gray skies above.

See the background skies in several of the below photos.

Unbelievable! Impossible! We now are in the absolutely very best parking place in the entire very large Edgewater Hotel Casino Campus Parking Area!

First, I was parked in Space 12 at the far end of the small Handicapped Parking Area out in front of the hotel. Just getting any parking space in this small area is a victory in and of itself!

Then I checked into the Edgewater Casino Hotel .. Notice the dark skies.

As I came back out of the hotel lobby I saw parking Space 2 had opened up. I am here to tell you all that I dashed back (Patti was waiting patiently in our truck) to our truck in Space 12 and said to Patti .. “Space 2 is open!” and I hurriedly backed out and successfully moved up to Space 2!

Then we got Patti settled into our room and out I went to get our baggage from our truck up to our room.

I couldn’t believe this! Space 1, the very best of all the parking spaces out in front of the entrance, was now open!

Immediately I moved from Space 2 (now open in the below photo after I moved) into Space 1 Front And Center!

Again notice the very dark skies in the background.

Almost immediately Space 2 space was occupied by the below White Crew Cab Pickup Truck.

Yet again notice the skies.

It is far FAR easier to unload (it took me four trips) from Space 1 or even Space 2 for that matter! Space 12 is still better than all of the other parking spaces.

Patti and I enjoyed Subway Sandwiches for a fun dinner.

Enough of our getting settled in!

Hello NATIONAL TODAY! You were pretty good to Patti today!

Donate a Book and do some Gardening were listed together!

DONATE A BOOK..

National Donate a Book Day is celebrated on April 14.

Whether it’s new or gently used books, you’re encouraged to donate them to your local libraries.

With the cost of new, hard cover books (New hardcover books generally cost between $25 and $30 for bestsellers and fiction) it is a wonder people are buying them and libraries are getting newly printed books.

A nice Post.

Thank you! I told Tim about International Be Kind to Lawyers Day. Perhaps he will share some chocolate with me? More likely he will move the hay bale I need on a pallet. Yes, more likely the latter. 😊
So glad your arrival resulted in the prime parking spot being open. Have a few fun days off before the next leg of your trek home.
    Thinking of you both.

Wow, I can’t believe the time to return to AK is already here. It seems like you haven’t been gone from AK that long. I’m glad your trek went well and that you stopped for rest breaks.

I can relate to the #1 parking spot joy. On my way home from getting a bone density scan today, I decided that ice cream sounded wonderful. So, I said to myself that if the spot near the door is available, it’s a sign from the universe that I should have ice cream. Well, right in front of the door was a beautifully empty parking space. So, I enjoyed some very delicious chocolate chip cheesecake ice cream. I have played that game a lot over the years and am always surprised when I end up with a prime parking spot.

“National Ex Spouse Day, curiously inserted into the calendar exactly two months after Valentine’s Day, has become a time to reflect on the positive moments you shared with your ex.” Being exactly 2 months after V-Day made laugh. I had positive moments with both of my exes. Still friends with #2.

You can’t believe it’s time for us to head North to Alaska Kathleen. Neither can we!! Too great .. you wrote.. “I said to myself that if the spot near the door is available, it’s a sign from the universe that I should have ice cream.” Loved it. Nice very nice you and your former ex are in positive vibes with each other. Hurrah.. Cap and Patti

  3. Gullible

My curiosity has gotten the best of me. As you can well guess, I am no stranger to hotels, lodges, motels, etc. Please tell me why neither of the two suggestions will work for you at the Edgewater.

    1. You drop off Patti and the luggage right in front of the hotel lobby, everything goes inside where Patti can sit and watch the luggage. You go park. Then, return and register, and get a bellhop with luggage trolley to take you and the luggage to your room. Tip him. All done in one trip.

    2. You drive right up to the lobby, go inside with Patti, register. She goes off to the room or waits for you. Park. Return and grab a luggage trolley, go to the vehicle, unload all the luggage into the trolley, return to the hotel and go to your room, with or without Patti. No tip.

    I prefer Number One.

    Enquiring minds want to know.

Traffic. Gullible there can, and often is, TRAFFIC in the small area immediately in front of the Hotel Entrance Gullible. There is NO WAY they will allow you to tie up the small drive around. Yes you can drive up “closer” to the entrance, immediately drop a passenger(s) and get out of their way.

Yes in the past I have parked our truck in a special area for the luggage bellmen and yes paid them $20 for one trolley of luggage. This area is ahead of, and off to the side of the main entrance. Smiles from one who knows the deal on the ground. Cap and Patti
