APR 17, 26.. HOME SAFE IN ANCHORAGE..

Has anyone noticed we have our internet up and running here in our Condo!!

April 17th 2026, 3:30am Mountain Standard Time (MST).

As I sit down here at our laptop, it is 3:30am (MST) down in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, 2:30am here in Anchorage, Alaska (Alaska Daylight Time).

So all of you now know that..

“Yes!! We are home, safe and sound and freezing cold.”

Why are we freezing cold?

Because it actually IS freezing cold

Our Condo has a problem with our heat. Inside it is 55°F. To this pair of Desert Rats it IS really cold. I have a waist length down jacket on with a wool beanie on my head.

Patti and I have been “Up and Going” since (right at 7:00am (MST) as of now for twenty hours (give or take). But we ARE still up so our “Clock” continues.

Thursday, April 16th, 2026..

10:00am (MST) Detroit Tiger Tom drove Patti and I from Laughlin, Nevada, to the Las Vegas, Nevada, Airport. As we were approaching the airport we got a text from Delta Airlines saying our plane was going to depart 62 minutes late. This meant we would miss our Seattle to Anchorage flight because we only had 60 minutes to spare coming up from Las Vegas. Before we got to the terminal Delta Airlines texted again that our plane was delayed another 211 minutes.

We got to the check in counter. The counter agent almost immediately called for her Supervisor. After a lot of hand wringing, the Supervisor told us ..” You are now booked flying from here to Los Angeles (LAX). Then to Seattle. Finally to Anchorage.”

After about a 30 minute delay because of a long crowded line on the taxi way, we flew to LAX. 100% occupancy. No empty seats.

With  the taxi way line up and delay with our take off from Los Vegas, it was “Nip and Tuck” but we connected with our LAX-Seattle Flight.

We flew North to Seattle (SEA aka SeaTac). Patti and I sat separately each in a center seat.

Once in Seattle, again it was “Nip and Tuck” but we barely made it in time to connect with our SeaTac-Anchorage Flight.

We flew to Anchorage in a basically empty plane.

We had to stand outside in Anchorage waiting for a Taxi and we were “Freezing”!

What was good?

We got home safe and sound!!

All of our wheel chair attendants were beyond great!!

We met a lot of very nice fellow passengers sitting around us on each of our flights!!

At every moment someone was helping us with our two carry-on bags I had trouble getting into and out of overhead compartments!!

Our Taxi driver was outstanding. 30 years driving. Carried our luggage into and down the stairs!!

Welcome home to Anchorage Alaska! You and Patti followed the geese north. And some summer birds. Stay warm and welcome home. Cap and Patti

Good to hear you are back, but not so good to be cold. Doesn’t your condo have electric baseboard heat? What’s up with that?

Might help to move the couch out from the wall with the baseboard. Also, get some small personal electric space heaters until the heat problem gets solved.

And, yes, I did wonder about your internet service. Thought about it last night around midnight when I checked to see if you’d posted a note.

We also are thankful to have the past week behind us Kit. We had not been looking forward to the return trip. We are still on the “Chilly Side” but it was only 35F today. NOT too warm at best. Smiles.. Cap and Patti
