HEAT..

There are many “dire and negative” forecasts that predict that Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada, along with other cities, could become un-livable by year 2050 due to extremely high temperatures.

Sixty (60) years ago, back in the mid-1960’s (1963 – 1964 ) my family and I were living full time in Phoenix. Many of my working days were outdoors on construction projects. During the summer months we would be out in the field surveying early in the mornings before the heat of the day made it difficult to accomplish surveying work.

In Lake Havasu City, and Phoenix, Arizona, we have experienced high temperatures (over 110°F range) that are very unpleasant.

You can “Dress for the cold.” You can not dress for the heat! And you cannot stay inside all day, every day. Some people just get tired of hearing the air conditioner!

National Heat Awareness Day is observed annually on the last Friday of May.

Americans underestimate the health risks related to conditions of extreme heat or temperatures, even though it’s the deadliest weather condition in the country.

Many outdoor workers, laborers, young children, elderly adults, people with chronic medical conditions, and pregnant women to name but a few, are at risk of serious heat-induced conditions like heat exhaustion, dehydration, heatstroke, and even death.

The reality is that every year, in the U.S. alone, people suffer and die from heat-induced illnesses, which could easily have been prevented with the right protective measures and intervention.

DIGESTIVE HEALTH DAY..

Both Patti and I have medical digestive challenges.

I have been taking Protonix (pantoprazole) daily for twenty six (26) years to treat my GERD.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic digestive disorder occurring when stomach acid or bile repeatedly flows back into the esophagus. This continuous backwash irritates the esophageal lining, frequently causing the burning chest sensation known as heartburn, as well as regurgitation and other related symptoms.

I am not sure if my recent Hernia Surgery was a digestive health issue. My V.A. Doctor said that if I neglected to have my hernia repaired, I risked serious (even life threatening) issues in my lower digestive tract.

Patti’s digestive challenges have included Mayo Clinic medical procedures.

World Digestive Health Day is celebrated every year on May 29th around the world.

World Digestive Health Day provides resources and tools for gastrointestinal (G.I.) diseases to help more people in the general public make better decisions about their health. Awareness can lead to the early diagnosis and treatment of G.I. diseases, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and viral hepatitis.

The focus seems to be primarily on the negative health effects of Obesity.

I had an Inguinal (Abdominal) Hernia Gullible. One that occurs when tissue, such as a loop of the intestine, pushes through a weak spot or defect in the lower abdominal wall into the inguinal canal. Cap
