Hello NATIONAL TODAY Holidays on May 31st, 2026.

As often happens on NATIONAL TODAY.. The above two holidays (numbers 4 and 5) we liked were joined together.

Patti and I both have some “Hearing Issues”. Patti has chosen to do something about her hearing by getting Hearing Aids.
I sit thinking, “Yes! I too certainly have (by several formal audio tests) hearing issues BUT, at least for now, I am choosing to live with them.”

National Save Your Hearing Day, takes place each year on May 31st.
The earliest record of hearing loss is from ancient Egypt, in which an ancient piece of papyrus even offers a remedy for hearing loss. Unlike the ancient Greeks, Egyptians were taught to treat disabled individuals with respect, including the deaf.
If you have to use headphones, over-the-ear ones are better — avoid earbuds as they sit directly next to the eardrum.

The below Holiday heralds the beginning of National Smile Month!

Wear your best smile as we celebrate National Smile Day on May 31st.
Smiling is believed to boost levels of serotonin, even when the smile is forced. Serotonin is a natural stress reducer in the brain.
The best way to celebrate this day dedicated to smiling is to smile, of course! Spread some good cheer around and grace another person with your smile.
This is true.. Share a smile with others just for a moment and see the difference it makes in your everyday interactions. It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile.
Babies smile about 400 times a day, while, on average, adults only smile about 20 times.
The more we smile, the healthier our brains become. This is because smiles make us happy, thus reducing stress. Smiles are also known to reduce our blood pressure, heart rate, and pain. Smiling can increase endurance, strengthen our immune system, and even help keep the cells in our body healthy.

Another very positive Holiday.

What You Think Upon Grows Day, is celebrated annually on May 31st.
Norman Vincent Peale was born in Ohio on May 31, 1898. He was a clergyman, an author, served as a pastor in Marble Collegiate Church, New York, and was one of the many people who embraced and popularized the concept of positive thinking.
What You Think Upon Grows Day encourages us to adopt an optimistic attitude regardless of our surrounding circumstances.
The focus of this Holiday is strictly on our mental health. This is one of the most positive holidays we can celebrate and it leaves us feeling better than we were.

Cap and Patti..
I had to apply some of the above philosophy writing this Post because my online internet connection “took a short hike” and caused me to lose some material that I had written and not yet saved. Finally the time honored solution was to perform a “Restart”. That helped me get back “on track”.
I am currently test driving a pair of hearing aids. So far, after several weeks, I hate them. My hearing is mostly fine but there are a few ranges where I can’t hear things. I have two weeks left of my trial run and have not decided if I will keep them.
Kathleen I am, more or less, “In your camp.” regarding hearing aids. BUT I have never taken them on a test drive. Interesting. Not all who have them totally like them but the ability to hear even a little bit better keeps them using them.
Patti is very pleased with her Hearing Aids she got at Costco and with the Costco Team who service them.
Smiles .. Cap and Patti
