Hello NATIONAL TODAY Holidays..
Here we have yet another “No Brainer Holiday”, at least for Patti and me.
Patti and I have quite a history with Hot Air Balloons!
Little did Patti and I know that at 8:15AM in the morning of Thursday, January the 21st, 2022, our very lives were about to change with the below photo taken from our room at the Windsor Inn Motel in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Patti and I went from being very interested “By Standers” in January of 2022, to formal Volunteers with the Lake Havasu City Balloon Festival Team beginning in January of 2023 and continuing right up until this past January of 2026 our 4th year as Volunteers.

HOT AIR BALLOON DAY, JUN 5th 2026
Hot Air Balloon Day is celebrated on June 5th.
1783 Two French brothers, Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Étienne Montgolfier, create the hot air balloon.
The hot air balloon is regarded as the oldest form of human flight technology.
The idea for hot hair balloons was derived from the Chinese practice of releasing sky lanterns.
A hot air balloon can reach an altitude multiple times that of an airplane. A NASA balloon has floated over 160,000 feet, which is almost six times higher than the normal altitude of a commercial airplane.
