OCT 7, 14 .. PALENVILLE .. NEW YORK ..
Patti and I have been visiting our friends Joe, Cheryl and Erin in Palenville New York .. so I wanted to post some photographs of the local-scene.
First you jump onto Interstate Highway 87 and head south out of Albany New York ..
Then you jump off I – 87 South at Exit 21 and following the signs you end up in Palenville New York .. we are almost there !
Meet Palenville New York ..
How about that nifty sign in the photo above welcoming us to Palenville New York!
HERE IS THE REST-OF-THE-STORY.
The above .. pristine sign .. just happened to be at the top of a mess-of-advertisements etc. Go Figure !
Silly huh ? Well I think it is silly ! Come On Palenville ! You Can Do Better Than This !
A photo of our friends home in Palenville ..
When I travel .. I search for local libraries so that I can use their computers IF they have them. Palenville has a great library and many computers.
Meet Palenville’s library !
I did not ask the librarian IF it was her car that matched the color of the Palenville library. Just check it out.
In the below photo .. my computer was the one directly ahead under the window. You can see Patti at her computer on the right.
“Ah-h-h-h-h Captain .. can we move on ?” .. “Hi ‘Zilla .. OK .. I’ll move on past the library.”
Next to the library is the local Beauty Salon .. for Gals AND Guys .. an equal opportunity Salon.
Right across the street from the library and the beauty salon is the Palenville General Store. It is nifty ‘Zilla.
Let me tell you all .. when you step inside of the Palenville General Store the aroma is phenomenal !
IF you have fire .. just call the Palenville Fire Department !
Joe .. Cheryl .. Erin .. IF you ever look-at-this-post .. will you clue-me-in as to exactly what you know about this remarkable stately handsome building.
THANK YOU CHERYL AND ERIN !! .. THANK YOU WIKIPEDIA for your fount-of-knowledge ..
LATE BREAKING NEWS FLASH .. The Romanesque style Rowena Memorial School in Palenville New York was built by Lysander Lawrence in memory of his wife Rowena who passed away in the 1890s. Construction was begun in 1899 and the first classes were held in 1901. It remained the Palenville school for over 70 years until 1977 when a major school district reorganization consolidated many rural schools. It then became the library until 1989. A new owner made it into a jewelry factory until he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2006. It has recently been purchased by a new owner.
A few photos of the amazing Autumn colors ..
Just in case the Holy Spirit is calling-to-you .. Palenville has a few Homes where God may be found ! Would you rather believe and be wrong .. or not believe and be wrong ? .. “What’s that Gullible ?” .. This IS my Doxology ! Just a little ribbing-between-friends here ! “Friends ? We’ve been friends until the end but this looks like the end my friend !” .. giggle .. :-)
I wonder .. IF those who actually live in Palenville .. KNOW just how beautiful Palenville is ? The below photos were taken behind the library ..
Just outside of the Palenville City Limits is THE WONDERFUL Story Farms produce market. I mean-to-tell-you it is beyond phenomenal ! IF you believe me have a look-see for yourselves !
Below is a photograph of the intersection at which The Story Farms market is located. The market is to the right as you come to the intersection. Note the interesting names of local villages.
And here we are .. The Story Farms market ..
At the approach to the farmer’s produce market .. the below display welcomes guests. Can any of you spot Black Beauty .. our SUV .. on the left side of the below photograph ?
Across the road from the above Story Farms produce market is a dairy farm.
Oh My Goodness .. That is all my friends .. I hope you liked this short visit to Palenville New York ..
Smiles .. Cap and Patti ..
