NOV 18, 14 .. PERFECTIONISM .. PROCRASTINATION .. PARALYSIS ..

When I am treading uncertain waters from a mental frame or point-of-view of my mind ..  I will tell Patti and friends that .. “The Dinkey Bird Is Singing In The Amfalula Tree”.  The Dinkey Bird is a poem written by Eugene Fields.  To read THE DINKEY BIRD simply click onto it on my list of Categories along the right margin of my website here.

And my Dinkey Bird is singing in my Amfalula Tree !  All of you who are looking over this Post have been forewarned !  I am in the midst of attempting to get past this 13-hour-jet-lag and I am not winning the battle.  That is .. I am up most of the night on Eastern Time and I am up all day on Hong Kong Time.  This is crazy making BUT I have been here and I have done this many MANY times so I know the deal.

To start off here .. I am going to give to you a number.  Taa-Daa .. THE NUMBER IS (Envelope Please .. Thank You ..)

EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTY THREE !

Numerically it is 853 !

I will not keep-you-guessing about THE NUMBER above.  Since I began my two websites in August 2011 (Dot.Net my Word Press website) and October 2011 (Blogspot my Google website) .. I have posted a combined total of 853 Posts (395 on Word Press and 458 on Blogspot).  This is just a number.  It is what it is.  I am not bragging nor am I boasting about having put-up 853 Posts because I KNOW this number of Posts is FAR less than Gullible and Clement and Shaddy. I am guessing that I may be in-the-lower-mid-range of website hosts.  I would guess I am about in the 40th percentile .. 39% have fewer Posts than I have and 59% have more Posts than I have.

For those of you who do not host a website .. as you read along below .. you MAY WONDER ABOUT AND QUESTION my self-analysis. As in .. Cap has run 853 races .. Cap has come-to-the-plate 853 times .. Cap has skated in 853 games .. Cap has played in 853 Tennis Matches .. Cap was In-The-Corps 853 days .. etc .. HOW CAN HE POSSIBLY HAVE THE ISSUES HE SEEMS-TO-HAVE !  CAP IS NO ROOKIE !

And my Dinkey Bird continues singing in my Amfalula Tree .. Oh Yes I warned you all !  Quit here while you are ahead !

Few of you know .. except for Patti and a handful of my closest friends and associates .. few of you know and fully understand what an ABSOLUTE MIRACLE it is that I can get any Post written and Posted .. let alone the fact that I have now .. between my two websites .. published 853 of them !!

It simply boils down to the brutality of PERFECTIONISM.

Now I will get extremely case-specific.  The instant that I find myself PROCRASTINATING I look to see what-it-is I am trying to hard to do perfectly.  Just yesterday (November 17th) I put up a lengthy Post with 45 photographs about my favorite restaurant here in Hong Kong.  For me to put a post such as this together takes time and thought.  KNOWING that it would be out-dated the day I put it up did NOT stop me from ‘ just doing it ‘ to quote Nike. I had to fight against my inner-critic and finally ‘ just do it ‘ which I accomplished.  The Post is on-line.

Now here I sit.  I want and need to add to it. How to do this is the issue !  IF I just add to it .. then who will ever know ?  I am not so naive as to believe that anyone goes back to see IF I have added or changed anything in a prior Post.  BUT some new reader may go to an old Post from the archives so I want any Post to be the best it can be.

So what I am going to do is this :  I am going to do this Post showing the new changes and then go back and incorporate the new changes into the old Post for future readers.

Below are several photographs of THE MAN at this favorite restaurant of mine.  He is the Head Honcho.  I have been going into this restaurant for twenty-or-so years.  When I shot all of the photographs that I posted yesterday the 17th of November .. a real thaw took place and all of the staff really REALLY warmed up to us.  To this point-in-time they have always been busy and inscrutable.

Tonight Patti and I were on our way to a meeting and en route we were right smack dab in the middle of a real crowd of humanity in the Hong Kong MTR (The Underground Subway) ..

Do you see Patti in the above photo ?  Patti is the third rider on the left queue of riders.

When suddenly .. out from the crowd .. THE MAN from our restaurant bolted up to us and warmly embraced and greeted each of us !  And I said .. ” Can we get a photo ? ”

These small but oh-so-special moments mean so much to Patti and myself.

So what did Patti and I do after our meeting ?  Guess ?
