AUG 8, 19 .. VLADIVOSTOK, RUSSIAN SIBERIA

As my visit here to Russian Siberia ‘winds down’, I finally took decisive action to visit the one last place that I have wanted to visit:

VLADIVOSTOK

Talk about being ‘way down there’ Vladivostok qualifies.

Below, Irkutsk is the upper left red balloon.

Vladivostok is the lower right red balloon.

A closer look at Vladivostok.

“When exactly is it that things-get-easy?”

Irkutsk to Vladivostok is a 3 1/2 day Trans-Siberian Train trip, so I went on-line to set up flights. I got all the way to ‘pay’ and guess what ?

The below story began to repeat itself !

https://babakaps.net/?p=36386

1.  I said to myself : “Grrrrr! Nuts on this!”

2. I called the S7 Airline Office here in Irkutsk.

3. I spoke to “Olga” and told her I could not get my trip set up on-line.

4. Olga said : “Do you know where Kirov Square and the Hotel Angara are?”

5. “Yes I do.”

6. Olga said : “Come into our office.”

7. I did and I now have my tickets to fly to Vladivostok on August the 20th and return to Irkutsk September the 3rd.

And That-Was-That !

So much for this credit card drama that is happening to me !

Things are beginning to ratchet-up for yours truly :

August 16 – 18. Convention in Baykalsk.

August 20 – September 3. Vladivostok.

September 9 – 11 : Leave Russia and head for Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Still Smiling .. Cap

Thanks for your comment. I went to your site and ‘searched’ Vladivostok and came up empty. I did not then go through your Russian Journals circa year 2009 September and October thinking that this 2009 trip focused on the Northwest area of Russia (Moscow and environs)? Do I assume you have not (yet) visited Vladivostok? Smiles .. Cap

SO very happy that Vladivostok is set for you to visit. There must be something magic about Russian women named “Olga”, since our Olga in Chita opened doors for us beyond our imagination! Vladivostok will, in its own way, add to completing this visit to Siberia. Again, so very happy for you! Smiling and sending love, Patti

The is no doubt that visiting Vladivostok will indeed wrap up Russian Siberia in grand style. For one thing, it is well known as being one end of the Trans-Siberian Train route. That alone is a monumental event in the history of both Russia and Siberia. It ranks in size with Irkutsk being just over 600,000 people in size. I hope it will be another grand experience. Thanks for your love and support. Much Love. Cap

Dear Cap, Vladivostok, Now there is an exotic name, like Timbuktu and Kandahar. That part of Russia has Tigers, not in the city limits though. My father was there in 1937, it looked bleak in photos. All’s well here. Yours, Greg
