JUL 5, 20 .. CAPTAIN ?? WHAT DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND !!
The 4th of July 2020
The Topics here are the 4th of July and Covid-19.
I will start out here by emphasizing : Patti and I are taking the Covid-19 virus issue seriously.
For the past (how many?) days or weeks we have been reading (in our daily newspaper) and seeing (on local and national television) the following:
Wear Masks
Avoid Crowds
Social Distance
Beginning this past Thursday, continuing yesterday (Friday) and into today (the 4th of July) the news media here have been emphasizing:
Do NOT go to 4th of July Parades or any 4th of July (fireworks, etc) group activities.
Do NOT participate with family and friends in 4th of July BBQ’s.
With our being serious about Covid-19 coupled with all of the news it is amazing what I said to Patti this morning of July the 4th.
Yes indeed Sports Fans, this very 4th of July morning I said to Patti : “Should we go to the 4th of July Parade down on the Park Strip here in Anchorage?”
Yes indeed Sports Fans, this same very 4th of July morning I said to Patti : “Should we go to the BBQ at our Dry Dock Club at 1p.m.?”
And I think that I am reasonably intelligent.
CAPTAIN ?? WHAT DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND !!
Page 84 of The Big Book, way down there at the bottom of the page says:
For by this time sanity has returned.
We did NOT go to the 4th of July Parade downtown at the Park Strip.
We did NOT go to the 4th of July BBQ at our Dry Dock Club.
WE DID go to the Spenard Market (very early before there were many people, and, we wore face masks) and we purchased six (6) brand new, double thickness, cotton Covid-19 face masks.
With my focus on Covid-19, for me to ask the above two dumb questions is amazing. It is no wonder we are having the problems we are with people who are not serious about the issue continuing to do-what-they-do (not paying attention to wearing masks, going to crowded beaches, filling up restaurants and bars etc).

Amigos, Yes, we must isolate and miss out to cut our risk. No one knows how or when this might end, take care. I liked how you turned around the situation with Linda. Also that milkshake was just the ticket. It’s time for me to get some root beer and vanilla ice cream. The weather is great, summer is hitting its stride, Yours Greg
