DEC 29, 21 (2/2) .. FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH .. SECOND OF TWO EDITIONS TODAY

AMAZING !!

Today, this afternoon, at 3:25 pm, we received a telephone call from the Lake Havasu City Police Department advising us that..

Our 1998,GMC Suburban, has been located.

We were told that it was located in, or near the Lake Mead Arizona / Nevada area, and was being transported from where it was found to the Bullhead City AZ area. This area is approximately 135 miles North of Lake Havasu City.

As we write these few words this is all we know.

Are you all sitting down?

We were told that the criminal(s) who stole our truck abandoned it and immeditely stole a U. S. Forest Service vehicle (evidently) parked in the same area they abandoned our truck and absconded with said U. S. Forest Service vehicle.

Why would they do this? We’ve no idea. I wonder IF our truck engine was failing, or maybe our truck was out of gasoline (it’s fuel gauge is faulty). We may never know.

We have spoken with the firm transporting our truck to Bullhead City AZ and environs and I was asked .. “Was there a lot of stuff in the back of your truck?” .. “Yes!” I replied “It was full of stuff!”

This may mean that we will not have lost all of the personal items we were storing in the truck.

Tomorrow Patti and I will drive up to the Bullhead City AZ and Laughlin NV area to see for ourselves the condition of our truck.

The towing company said EMPHATICALLY that I MUST HAVE THE VEHICLE REGISTRATION in order to prove I am the rightful owner. I replied that this information is in the glove compartement (knowing the criminals may have removed it). I was again told that I MUST HAVE THE VEHICLE REGISTRATION to prove ownership.

So?

MIRACLE OF MIRACLES !!

By telephone, the Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles (Cheryl in Alaska) emailed me a copy of the registration.

And?

By telephone, the Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles (Cheryl in Alaska) processed my request for new license plates because the criminals removed my license plates.

And?

We can’t wait to see what condition Black Beauty is in.

Black Beauty IS FAMILY !

More to follow tomorrow.

Life is an adventure! We never really know what’s coming next… Fingers crossed, and looking forward to more news tomorrow regarding your beloved Black Beauty truck!

Well, I haven’t checked in since before Christmas. Looks like the two of you have had a heck of a Holiday! I hope BB is none the worse for the wear. I am just glad the two of you are alright! It is a strange story to say the least.
I’m afraid I have some more bad news, Cap. The Sisters of Charity have been barred from raising money internationally for their orphanages and charity work in India by the Modi govt.

True Andrej .. This ‘Holiday’ has been a challenge. So far Black Beauty is running just fine. A blessing in deed !! Smiles Andrej .. Cap and Patti

Hallelujah! Such inspirational news that your beautiful ‘Black Beauty’ has been recovered, and perhaps some of your personal belongings. I know you well, my dear friends and I was saddened to see you suffering, victimized and traumatized by the wanton theft of your wheels. With this exciting news it brings great hopes of getting back to enjoying your journey through the Southwest environs and back to a semblance of peace and serenity. You’ve both displayed great courage and dignity through these trying times. I will continue to pray for you to quickly return to a semblance of normalcy with minimal damage to Black Beauty and hurt on your pocketbooks. Sending endless love and ((Hugs!)) to you!

      And?

YOU Michael were part and parcel, physically with us, as we drove up to Laughlin and back to pick up Black Beauty. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT Michael. Cap and Patti

I am thrilled beyond measure for you two! Seems like a miracle that police can find one car among millions. This is such happy news to start off a brand new year in a couple of days. You are blessed.

We will never know all of the ins and outs to this story. It is INDEED a mini-miracle of sorts that Black Beauty was found and actually in good running condition. Smiles Linda .. Cap and Patti

Wow!!! Now that is amazing. Good deal. My advice to you now, should you choose to accept it, is that you immediately have it detailed inside and out, especially if drug paraphernalia is found in it. You never know.

    1. Cap Chastain Post author

Yes we plan to do this Gullible. Yes indeed to the extent they have a team here to perform this inspection procedure. Cap and Patti

Another FYI: Don’t carry the vehicle registration in the glove box. Instead, keep it at home and take a photo of it with your phone. Photograph your license plates and the vehicle itself with your phone also. All this I have learned from reading Facebook and what people have to do when their stolen vehicles are recovered.

I can’t believe it was recovered. Were the keys with it?

    1. Cap Chastain Post author

Yes the keys were in the ignition if you can believe that. In this day of computers the legal team can perform mini-miracles which his recovery certainly seems to be !! I do not plan, ever again, to keep the registration etc in the glove compartment. Cap and Patti

I meant to mention that the reason people don’t carry the registration is that sometimes it lists a home address and the criminals would then know where you live. If there is a garage door opener in the vehicle or a built-in programmed opener, that gives criminals access to your house. I realize this probably doesn’t apply to you, but you can’t be too careful these days.

    1. Cap Chastain Post author

It does apply to us. Our names and addresses are on the registration papers IN the glove compartment. No garage door opener but our address information is there. Sigh. Cap and Patti

What a relief for you to get BB back!
Re: Gullible’s comment, I keep a photocopy of the registration and the insurance coverage hidden elsewhere on our vehicles. In the spare tire well is a good spot, and there are other good spots when you explore a bit.

What a relief indeed to get our GMC back Robert. Yes I just learned the hard way NOT to keep the papers in the glove compartment. Cap
