OCT 28, 18 – CAP IN TRANSIT ONCE AGAIN

Cap and I have just spoken several times on the phone.  He was speaking from the airport in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia awaiting his flight to Irkutsk, Siberia.  He stayed in a hotel next door last night because where his room is, on the 9th floor (Happy’s place), the elevator does not work from midnight until about 6am.  He had to be on the way to the airport by 3:30am, thus he took his travel bags over to the hotel next door last night and slept there.

At 3:25am he was in the cab and arrived at the airport at 3:45am.  (These are all Mongolia times .. they are 16 hours ahead of us.)  As of 5:45am Cap was through security, in a wheel chair, comfortable, in VERY high spirits, excited, manic, thrilled, exuberant (all descriptive words he dictated to me!).  He did have to walk down a stairwell to get to a bus to the airplane, a plane he describes to me as a jet, but small.  Up the stairs and into the plane, he is now in his seat and the announcement has come to turn off all phones.  The next time I hear Cap’s voice he should be in Irkutsk.

There has been “some stress” – some of which is just what comes with it being a travel day.  He did have to pay 75,000 Mongolian Tugs for being overweight with his luggage.  Unbeknownst to him, they also weigh carry-on bags, but, he gladly paid the fees, not wanting to leave behind his computer, CPAP machine, or any of his other beloved Bobbseys.

Sergey, his connection in Irkutsk, will meet him on that end.

More to follow …

Smiles that I can actually post a post for Cap … Patti
