I am basically a pretty simple, straight-forward, person.

Yes (Да in Russian pronounced as Da) ..

No (Нет in Russian pronounced as Nyet) ..

You have Wi-Fi here at the library in Kyzyl. Yes? (Да).

Or you Do NOT have Wi-Fi here at the main Library here in Kyzyl. No? (Нет).

Yes (Да) I understand.

No (Нет) I understand.

Got it Sports Fans? Do you understand Ladies and Gentlemen?

I am NOT asking if you agree or if you don’t agree!

Last Saturday, the 1st day of December 2018 Mike and I visited the Main Library here in Kyzyl.

I asked, “Do you have Wi-Fi?”

I was told, “Нет.”

“What’s that “Zilla? You forgotten what the Russian word Нет means?”

“Нет in Russian means No ‘Zilla.”

Now I did not like hearing “Нет. We have no Wi-Fi here.”

But .. Acceptance does not mean Approval.

But accept the above verdict I did.

Last (I think but don’t hold me to it) Monday / Tuesday or .. I returned here to the Main Library here in Kyzyl.

Same story. “Нет. We have no Wi-Fi here.”

Very good. They are consistent. They are my kind of people here in Kyzyl.

Yes (Да) means Yes (Да).

No (“Нет. We have no Wi-Fi here.”) means No.

Saturday, the 8th of December 2018.

As Patti wrote yesterday, Friday the 7th of December :

In Cap’s present day in Siberia, this is a Risedronate day, his monthly medication for his male osteoporosis. Upon taking this medication, he needs to be upright and no food before or for two hours after. Generally each month he takes long walks to keep himself occupied. In Kyzyl, Siberia, at -21F, he is still following his two hour walk plan. Mike is with him for support. They did duck into an ATM to get warm, and then walked on to a cafe in the area. Cap cannot eat anything, but he is taking pictures, and, again, warming up. I checked online and it is supposed to warm up to -10F as the day goes on.

So, yes I did take my once-a-month Risedronate pill for my male osteoporosis.

Then Renat* came to our hotel room and we visited. Suddenly Renat* got a phone call, he jumped up, said he had to leave for the Presidential Palace immediately.

I said to Mike, “Let’s go with Renat* Mike. Renat* will drop us off at the Main Library and we will see IF I can get onto my e-mail.”

*I do not have time now to go into who Renat is except to say that he is, in terms of A.A. and alcoholism, one of the most important people I have met here in Kyzyl.

So out of our hotel room dashed Renat, Mike and myself. Renat dropped us off here at the Main Library, and Mike and I headed for the computer room.

Quick Aside : At age 82-years I do not LIKE change. I CAN do change and I DO, DO change, but I’d rather NOT do it in spite of the fact :

‘Change IS what I DO.”

IF any of you think that I can’t DO CHANGE then follow me around sometime.

We entered MY Main Library Computer Room here in Kyzyl.

DRAT!

MY computer is not in its place. MY librarian is not here today.

Another person (a man) is here not my friendly lady librarian who Mike and I have gotten-to-know!

“Oh well! I guess I’ll have to accept what IS and work with this gentleman.”

“I can use any computer?”

“Wow. Thanks so much!”

“Yes Sir. I do indeed have my own laptop with me in this black case!”

“Why don’t I just use my own computer Sir?”

“Ah-h-h-h-h .. Sir, but I can’t. I don’t have an ethernet port on my laptop.”

He looked at me. I can read minds. He was thinking to himself :

“Doesn’t this man know what Wi-Fi is?”

“I again pointed to all four sides of my Lenovo Laptop saying, ‘I don’t have any ethernet ports.’ ”

He said the words slowly and deliberately so I could understand him :

” W i – F i ..”

Thank (who else) you Oh God Of Abraham for allowing my mind to be open to this gentleman.

Of course I still did NOT believe him.

I sat down. I turned Mister Lenovo on. I brought up Wi-Fi. He (the library gentlemen) typed in the access code.

And?

Now, at this time, subject to change, I am on-line.

My next visit here I may again have my lady librarian who will smile and say ..  “Нет. We have no Wi-Fi here.”

“Captain what you are not getting, what you are not understanding here Captain may just be this : YOU Captain have become somebody here in Kyzyl. IF you are somebody in Kyzyl doors are going to open for you as if by magic.”

I will now text Patti and ask Patti to clean this up.

Renat is on his way. My time is up.
