DEC 27, 18 .. МИНУСИНСК .. “HUH CAPTAIN?”
I am going to start you off with a map. The small red balloons point to Abakan and Minusinsk, one of Abakan’s ‘sister’ cities.
How about some of the names here in Russian Siberia.
On the bus coming from КЫЗЫЛ (Kyzyl) to АБАКАН (Abakan) ..
We stopped in a city with a name that was / and it still is .. practically impossible for me to pronounce ..
МИНУСИНСК (Minusinsk)
Have a look-see at their City Limit signs ..
МИНУСИНСК .. In English Minusinsk is also ‘equally’ unpronounceable (at least for me) ..

АБАКАН .. In English .. Abakan is a piece of cake.
My friend Alexzay lives in МИНУСИНСК (Minusinsk).
So I asked Alexzay IF he would show me some of the ‘sights’ in his hometown of МИНУСИНСК (Minusinsk).
He said, “Sure! When?”
Today was the day.
While in МИНУСИНСК (Minusinsk), I visited five attractions.
I am only going to show you ONE photo of each one of the five attractions we visited in МИНУСИНСК (Minusinsk).
Holy Savior Parish.
Minusinsk City Park.
Vladimir Lenin Monument.
Chapel of Saint Panteleimon.
Shheinkin Monument. (Patti his name really has two letters ‘h’ its not a typo!)
On the way out of Abakan, heading for Minusinsk, I did a photo shoot of the below church.
Alexzay and I had a bite to eat here in Abakan.
And?
Without missing a beat we went straight to a 7pm meeting here in Abakan that lasted an hour and a half.
As I sign off it is in the wee-hours of the early morning.

I can agree, Minusinsk is a challenge to pronounce in English! I am a little confused .. you said you were only going to show ONE photo of the attractions in Minusinsk, and then you showed 5 photos. Also, was the meeting in Minusinsk or did you come back into Abakan for the meeting .. after you ate in Abakan? Enjoyed the photos!! Hugs. Patti

I have at least gotten-down-pat the English spelling of МИНУСИНСК. I begin with it is ‘minus’ (cold, below zero, as in temperature) degrees in (someplace I’m calling) sk. Put it together you have .. minus in sk.
The Russian word МИНУСИНСК is really not that difficult. M is M. И is I. H is N. У is ooo. С is S. И is I. N is N. C is S. K is K. MINooo SI .. SK. Pronouncing it is the problem. Got this? No?

Are you aware that they stand for several hours Greg. I’ve been to a Christmas Mass at a Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska. Two months and counting over here in Russian Siberia. One day soon Patti will be passing through Seattle en route right back North en route to Seoul, South Korea. I hope she sees you and Tsering en route Greg. Smiles .. Cap
