SEP 2, 19 .. VLADIVOSTOK, RUSSIAN SIBERIA .. THE WALK TO THE BUS

In Irkutsk, to get from our flat to the nearest tram stop, we have a nice, paved, relatively smooth, relatively short walk. A walk that Patti managed quite comfortably all-things-considered.

I was telling Patti that the walk from my flat here in Vladivostok to the nearest bus stop borders on what would be extremely (if not impossible) difficult for Patti.

Until this afternoon, I’d walked it one time, that being yesterday when I accompanied some friends to the bus stop after a meeting in my flat. Thanks to my assisting them, I learned where the bus stop is located.

I had no intention of ever walking it again.

Then, Oh Sigh..

This afternoon I had to go to the local super market to get some food in for dinner this evening.

To get to the market, I had to catch and ride a bus.

So out and off I went, camera-in-hand, to show Patti what I was talking about.

Right-off-the-bat you have 34 steps to walk down.

Here we go:

Down.

Looking back up when we return.

Then right down another (shorter) flight of just 10 steps.

On the return we’ll walk back up them.

Now we have a relatively good walking surface.

I said relatively good. I did not say perfect.

On we stroll.

The below Building Number 30 is a critical land-mark for me.

It is mid-route, and when I see Building Number 30 I know I am on-the-beam.

And on we go.

A few up-close-and-personal photographs of what we just walked over in the above photos.

I beg your pardon!

I never promised you a rose garden!

Patti, I honestly think you’d be in (or close to) tears if you had to walk this walk.

I myself could not possibly transport a large order of groceries over it.

Three trips are quite enough for me in this lifetime.

Now we are going to walk up a small hill to the last set of the steps. There are 21 steps here.

Up we go.

Looking back down the above steps for when we return from the store with groceries.

IF you want to get back to where you began, you’d better know the name of your bus stop of origin. Great information. All of the buses that stop here.

Here comes a bus.

Oh why not snap a few more bus photos!

I’ll sign off as..

Post Script : The walk, I made a third round trip to check it out, takes right at 10-minutes. A little less, a little more. Not hurrying but not slacking either.

By The Way, if you haven’t seen my SEP 1st Post, be sure to continue to scroll down and check it out. In the SEP 1st Post, there is a link to a blogspot Post showing some scenes of Vladivostok you don’t want to miss.

This walk would definitely be a challenge for me, and I do not think I could make it in ten minutes. You had me at the first batch of steps! Nice, however, to have a market within walking distance. Smiles and love, Patti

Thanks to your above comment, I revised the Post to clarify that I had no choice but to take the bus. The market was a long way from the Flat at least on foot. No matter how long it would take you, the walk is extremely challenging. I can’t imagine it in winter. Much Love .. Cap
