OCT 30, 19 .. MY NEIGHBORHOOD SIDEWALK PAVING PROJECT – Part 5

As I began this series of posts, I had no idea of where they were going to lead. When I finished Part 4, I felt that one-more post (Part 5) would wrap things up. As you will see as you wend your way down to the end of this Part 5, there will be a Part 6 and maybe a Part 7 and .. Does The Shadow Know?

I finished MY NEIGHBORHOOD SIDEWALK PAVING PROJECT – Part 4 with the below photos.

It takes just a little bit of doing, but you can see in the first photo below that the sidewalk across the street from me is not finished at its far end.

You can clearly see this unfinished end in the next two photos below.

And just across the street, on my side of the street, you can see where (I think) they are going to extend the concrete sidewalk paving up this street.

Here we go with the latest news on the above (and other areas) of the sidewalk paving  in my neighborhood.

As you can see below, they have finished paving the above unfinished piece of the sidewalk.

Looking back at the above new sidewalk paving.

Now just look across the street at that previous unfinished area.

I have to chuckle about the neighborhood dogs and their attraction to fresh concrete.

I walked to the far end of the above section of new sidewalk and, looking back, snapped the below photo.

In MY NEIGHBORHOOD SIDEWALK PAVING PROJECT – Part 4, I posed the below question..

Today’s Rhetorical Question : Are they going to do anything about our front entrance into the building. This drop off will be difficult and very dangerous with snow and ice! That is my sit-down cane and he is very happy to be in a photo. His mission is to show you that this is quite a drop down.

The below two photos will refresh your memory as to the progress that has been made at the front entrance to our building.

Then one day, when I came out the door, I noticed the below activity.

The pieces of wood you see above and below in front of the step down are ‘forms’ for an upcoming concrete step.

And in the next two photos, you can see that they have indeed placed concrete into the above ‘forms’.

VOILA !

This new step is a big improvement believe thee me.

Now we are going to change scenes.

The below four photos show one of two streets that I use to get to my building from the main road Peace Avenue (behind me in the first two photos below).

By the way, these photos date-back to July of 2015 when I first moved into this neighborhood.

The next two photos look back towards Peace Avenue in the distance.

Got it? Well at least you have some idea of how it has looked to me during my four plus years of living off-and-on in this Ulaanbaatar neighboorhood.

“WHOA.”

“What’s going on here?”

Now (above and below) we are looking up the street as we were when I began this series of photos.

I wonder what on this good earth they are doing. Repaving the street in total?

They did not rip up the main surface of the street after all. It sure looked like they were in the above photos.

Was the above significant construction effort simply to improve yet another piece of sidewalk?

This series of posts have taken-on-a-life-of-their-own!

Still Smiling (along with) Patti.

The sidewalk project marches or trudges on in your neighborhood. They are lucky to not have been stopped by snow and below freezing temperatures. Too bad about the dog prints in that one section .. after all the work to smoothe it out to a nice finish. Nice that they made a step outside of your entryway. Still, one will need to be careful when that has snow and ice on it. Yes, I am still smiling .. and sending Alaska hugs. Patti

Always, in all ways, we must be extra careful when we are negotiating snow and ice. And most of us walk to the side rather than straight ahead and down but the step is a great improvement and maybe we’ll all begin to use it. They do not go-back and fill in the dog prints. There are other areas as well when dogs have walked across fresh concrete. Thanks for the hugs! Love Cap
