MAR 11, 21 .. WE OVERSLEPT .. WE MISSED OUR MAYO APPOINTMENT .. (Read On)

We have (not good) news. We have good news.

IF you have been following us this past three days, you know that I have been stressing how tired and fatigued and absolutely exhausted we are.

IN MY ENTIRE LIFETIME .. IN MY EIGHTY FOUR AND ONE HALF YEARS OF MY LIFE .. I HAVE NEVER EVER MISSED AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE OF OVERSLEEPING ..

Today, Thursday March the 11th, 2021, Patti had a 10:45am Mayo Clinic appointment.

We slept Tuesday night (admittedly we went to bed at 1:30am Wednesday early morning) and into the day as well. Yes, we still did not feel rested. But, when we lay down last night, it did not even occur to me to set an alarm. For one thing, like clockwork, I awaken every two or three hours during the night. NOT last night. I DID NOT awaken even once. I slept soundly until I awoke at 10:45am. Unheard of for me. I NEVER ONCE woke up.

When I woke up I casually looked at my smartphone.

OH GOOD LORD !! IT IS 10:45am ..

WE HAVE A MAYO CLINIC APPOINTMENT ..

NOW..

THIS INSTANT ..

I leapt out of bed, grabbed Patti, and told her our situation. We called the Mayo Clinic Scheduling Department and explained our situation. They were in no way distressed.

“Could you come in at 4pm this afternoon?”

I thought, “You have got to be kidding?” I said .. ” YES !! “

Back to bed we two tumbled.

I set an alarm for 2pm. We got up. We relaxed. We got to the Mayo Clinic one half hour early.

Patti (as did I) loved her Doctor (a supervisor no less). Patti now has two followup appointments from her 4pm ‘gift-from-Mayo’ appointment. One at (odd to me) 8:50pm in the evening for a ‘ct scan’ of her head at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale Campus.

En route home we stopped at Costco, picked up a few things, went to Walmart and the Dollar Tree store, got a Subway Tuna Footlong, and are going to bed soon.

Kliener Bär asked why our tight schedule (fly in Tuesday after a red eye) etc. Several factors. Our major appointment was Friday (tomorrow) the 12th. We aimed for one of the few weekly, non-stop, Anchorage to Phoenix, flights. Then of those available, the Monday night red eye was a very attractive mileage fare. So we got here last Monday and NOT a week ago last Monday. At $80 per day for a motel room, it was not practical to sit on our hands for that length of time.

I will NOT GO INTO faith and our not knowing all the spiritual issues of the Universe. This I know from my own personal life experience. I have been abundantly blessed by a lifetime of unforseen events that all led to specific life-experiences that proved out to be the result of some amazing ‘coincidences’, sometimes coming to fruition years later. I kept thinking today, “Why did this happen? Why did I oversleep for the first time in a lifetime?” I may never know.

Over And (but not) Out ..

Cap and Patti
