AUG 15, 21 .. FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH ..

For What It’s Worth, this Post could also be titled :

A NICE DRIVE, ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON, TO THE ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, AIRPORT ..

It has been ‘just about forever’ since the two of us took a drive out to the area surrounding the Anchorage International Airport. The reason that we went out to the airport was to post some mail at the airport mail facility where the outgoing mail is 7pm and not 3pm as in downtown Anchorage.

And, while out there, we did some aircraft viewing.

The airport is officially named The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport after our former United States Senator Ted Stevens.

Senator Stevens was age 86 when he was killed on August 10th, 2010, in a single-engine plane crash in southwest Alaska that killed four other people. Senator Stevens was the longest-serving Republican senator in history. Senator Stevens was among nine people on board when a 1957 DeHavilland DHC-3 Otter, crashed into a brush-and rock-covered mountainside about 17 miles north of the southwest Alaska fishing town of Dillingham, Alaska. It seems like ‘yesterday’ and it’s been eleven years now.

The drive out to the airport is very pleasant. Keep in mind, as you look at the first four photos below, we were viewing the airport some distance from the main airport facilities (terminal and parking structures etc) so yes, we were out in some woods.

A few photos that I was able to (more or less) successfully snap. It was far more difficult than I thought it would be to ‘catch’ the actively landing aircraft.

Danny 48073, one of our very-best-of-friends, works for United Parcel Service (UPS). We sure thought of Danny when we saw the below UPS Worldwide Air Freighters.

These International Air Freighters are enormous.

Below, out of probably 15 failed photographic attempts, I captured the following three shots of actively landing aircraft.

I remain, seemingly stuck-in-time, with the challenge of this (with what I now believe to be a long term Covid-19 after effect) fatigue issue that has now been hounding me for, in my opinion, far-too-long with no medical solutions seemingly available.

The good far (as in FAR) outweighs the nagging fatigue. At this point in time I could fill a journal with other medical challenges I DON’T even want to think about having. Read : I am NOT ready to trade the fatigue for any other health challenges.

Smiles, Cap and Patti

YES, as Patti will agree, there is far, FAR more to this fatigue issue than I am acknowledging when I casually dust it off,  but I am doing my best to not let this challenge get the best of me..
