APR 5, 22 .. THANKS 100% TO PATTI ..

Monday, April 4th 2022

Today was the final game of college basketball’s grand competition, March Maddness.

March Madness is held during the month of March when the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) single-elimination basketball tournament is held.

68 teams had played down to the two final teams, The University of Kansas and The University of North Carolina.

It was winner take all and become the 2022 NCAA College Basketball Champion.

Patti and I were, more or less, neutral. We wanted North Carolina to win because we have special friends who live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, from whom we purchased our GMC Subruban Black Beauty (who was rooting for his home town team North Carolina). On the other hand, we were also rooting for Kansas because they have won fewer National Championships (3) than North Carolina (6) and hadn’t won a title since 2008. In any event, we hoped for a good game.

The First Half .. Kansas lept off to a good strong start then North Carolina came roaring back to overtake Kansas for the lead. Just before halftime North Carolina led Kansas 38 – 22 a sixteen (16) point lead. At halftime North Carolina led by fifteen points 40 – 25.

BORING.

This game is a blow out !!

At which point I began ‘making noises’ to Patti to turn the game off because, in the history of March Maddness, only two teams had ever come back to win after trailing by 11 points (in 1958 and 2001). Here we had a 15 point halftime deficit in favor of North Carolina.

THANKS 100% TO PATTI .. she did not turn off our television and continued to watch the half time show so I settled down beside her to stick the game out.

The Second Half .. Kansas came storming out to begin the second half with an 18 – 6 run and, right before my amazed eyes, almost in no time, cut the North Carolina lead down to just 7 points ! Then Kansas tied the game at 50 – 50 and the Battle Royal was ON. We ended up with four and one half seconds left to play in the game with Kansas leading 72 – 69 over North Carolina but Kansas had the ball and only had to inbound successfully to win the championship. All basketball fans know that four and one half seconds is still plenty of time for a team to shoot up a three point shot and tie the game. Kansas successfully inbounded the ball but the Kansas player stepped out of bounds and the ball went to North Carolina in their end of the court with four seconds remaining. They inbounded successfully but missed their 3 point shot to lose the game.

THANKS 100% TO PATTI.. I got to see one of the games of the century!!

Over And Out for now. I am having some computer challenges and want to publish this Post.

Cap and (Thanks Again) Patti for standing your ground and seeing the game through to its final amazing conclusion!!
