MAY 11, 22 .. TENTATIVE GOOD NEWS ABOUT OUR CABIN IN MANLEY HOT SPRINGS

Tuesday, May 10th 2022

Yesterday evening, I texted our closest neighbor in Manley Hot Springs and very gently inquired (because we had absolutely no idea) how they were doing (not mentioning our cabin) and didn’t want to bother them and further we read in the newspaper they had no cell phone service in Manley.

Great news. Late this afternoon we heard back from them. Their cabin’s interior was (basically) untouched by the flood waters.  They said that they could not tell about our cabin but believe that the flood waters were not high enough to enter its interior (the interior floor of our cabin is a good 24-inches off the ground on concrete pilings).

They said that MANY other residents, especially those living close to the Manley Slough (a mini river off the Tanana River that flooded) were indeed hard hit by flooding.

And for now, unless we get further reports from Manley, that will be it as to further reports about our flooding.

We remain in close touch with friends overseas. Grant in Hong Kong sent us the below photos on WhatsApp.

These two photos show a small ferry boat and its mooring. They use the ferry to cross a small bay between their location and the mainland.

The below link will magically transport you back to a blogspot post (dated July 18, 2020) that shows the above ferry boat and many other views of their location in Greater Hong Kong.

We can’t speak for you, but WE sure enjoyed revisiting Hong Kong via the above link. IF we could (but currently are not able due to Covid-19 restrictions) go back to Hong Kong, we’d do so in a New York Minute.
