SEP 12, 22 .. FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH

In our post yesterday, we paid our respects to all who lost their lives during the attack on the United States, September 11, 2001 (commonly called 9 / 11).  We paid our respects to their loved ones as well.

Our great friend Michael 86403, posted a comment to our post.

After reading Michael’s comment (please see it below) on our post, Michael basically addressed Man’s Inhumanity To Man..

I’m not sure that any of us will ever be freed of the horror, shock and wanton killing of 3000+ innocent lives. I remember it as if it were happening again, just now. Such a brutal attack on U.S citizens and foreigners from throughout the world. All with such wicked intent and planning by religious radicals. I still can’t come to terms with the evil from which this was born.
That morning as I was preparing to leave for work at GCI, I slurped down some last minute coffee and stared down into the living room wide-screenTV. I struggled to make sense of the smoke billowing out from the first World Trade Center building. I tried to jog my senses into reality, that this was happening now….REAL TIME, in New York City. I was truly numbed and paralyzed, so I sat on the top stairs still watching the news reports. Not long after…..the 2nd jet plane struck the 2nd tower! This couldn’t be real! This couldn’t happen in our U.S.A., but it did! The horrors of death and destruction began to compile. It was all nightmarishly horrible as it was being revealed. For me, the suffering of all so close and impacted, and killed sent me into both shock, deep compassion for those who lost their lives, and a hate of men who could conceptualize such wicked taking of innocent lives. Much of that I still carry today.
God Bless those men, women and children who were so selfishly taken from life and family. May their souls be at peace in heaven.  Michael

Then, as if by magic, the below thought appeared to us ..

There is a loftier ambition than merely to stand high in the world.

It is to stoop down and lift mankind a little higher. Henry Van Dyke

How much better to hold this truth, than to hold the beliefs of those who planned and orchestrated 9 / 11 !!

Whew huh !!

Are YOU ready for some Football ??

Oh Yes !! Oh Yes Indeed !! THE NFL season is now on and in full swing. One game remains in the first week of the season. Tonight the Denver Broncos visit the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. We two, Patti and I, will be tuned into ESPN to watch.

For those of you who don’t follow the NFL, Russell Wilson (an absolutely amazing athlete) played quarterback for Seattle for ten years beginning with the 2012 season through last year’s 2021 season. This past summer 2022, he was traded (basically at his request) by Seattle to Denver. So he will be ‘coming home to Seattle’ as the quarterback of a new team, the Denver Broncos.

We hope the Seattle fans will cheer for him after all he did for their team while in Seattle.  He led them to the Super Bowl XLVIII Title in 2014, his second season with Seattle. Get this : In the February 2nd 2014 Super Bowl, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos 43-8. He then led them back to the Super Bowl again in 2015 losing to the New England Patriots, a game that will live in infamy for all Seattle Seahawks fans !!

Tonight into Seattle with the Denver Broncos comes Russell Wilson !!

Good Stuff Huh ?? Whatcha think Gullilble??

Smiling .. Cap and Patti (who by the way is a REAL NFL football fan!!)

Seattle/Denver is the game I’ve been waiting for. I was really sorry to see Russell Wilson leave the Hawks, but in reality he seemed to struggle the last couple seasons.

The game that lives in shame and infamy for me is Superbowl XL in 2006 when the Seahawks had to play the Pittsburg Steelers AND the referees in what is now considered the worst officiated game in modern memory. It was Jerome Bettis’s final year and he was the sentimental favorite to retire with a Super Bowl ring.

But, yes, the 2015 ‘Bowl game was a shocker. One yard to a probable win and Coach calls a pass, which was intercepted and the Hawks lost. What a bummer.

By the way, when the ‘Hawks won the Superbowl in 2014, I was on a small aluminum boat on the Zambezi River in Botswana. This is the river that becomes Victoria Falls.

What interesting history (when the ‘Hawks won the Superbowl in 2014, I was on a small aluminum boat on the Zambezi River in Botswana) you recall Gullible!! I’d forgotten about the Steelers / Seahawks game in Super Bowl XL February 5th 2006 with the Rolling Stones (THAT I remember) doing the halftime show. Did Seattle just win the game vs Denver 17-16 or did Denver lose the game with fumbles and two (count them two) missed opportunities on the goal line? It WAS an entertaining game for us!! Geno Smith sure deserved to win the game. Cap and Patti
