DEC 23, 22 .. WE ARE BACK IN LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA

In yesterday’s Post I wrote that ..

To get from Phoenix, Arizona, to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Google maps says it is 203 miles and takes 3 hours and 18 minutes with normal traffic. Our own reality is that it will most likely take us closer to 5 hours.

Not bad Google ! Not to shabby ! To get from our Motel 6 on Bell Road on the extreme North side of Phoenix, to the Windsor Inn here in Lake Havasu City, our trip odometer showed 206 miles. There are far too many variables to say which of us, Google or our truck’s trip odometer, is correct. The key is this : Often, Google takes you from the center of your departure city to the center of your destination city. Our bottom line travel time was 4 hours and 40 minutes. Google says it’s 3 hours and 18 minutes. I said it’s close to 5 hours. 

So out and off we went leaving Motel 6 at 11:35am and arriving in Lake Havasu City at 5:40pm. 

” Captain ! That’s 6 hours ! “

We stopped a time-or-two en route !

First off, we stopped to see two dear friends in Phoenix as we motored off and away to Lake Havasu City.

Two other Spring Chickens just like Patti and me !

We’ve known Mary from afar for 24 years. 

We just met Bertha and have become ” instant best of friends “. Sometimes that happens !

Then, after driving a full hour,  we stopped to ” chill out ” at the BURNT WELL REST AREA at milepost 86.1 on I – 10. 

Never Say Never .. Never Say Always ..

Almost Always but not 100% of the time we stop here for sentimental reasons.

Back, waaayyy back on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017, Patti and I stopped at this, the BURNT WELL REST AREA, as we were driving from Phoenix, Arizona, to Apple Valley, California, to visit Jim and Claudia.

I saw Patti studying one of the blue signs. So I walked over to see what she was looking at so closely !

“Patti? Oh Patti? What are you looking at so closely?”

POISONOUS SNAKES AND INSECTS ( Read : Scorpions !) INHABIT THE AREA.

” Yikes ” Patti said ! 

Yes ! The same blue signs continue to still be there. 

Arizona, in general, has extremely nice rest areas.

Patti took over the wheel of our GMC Suburban so that I could grab about an hour of desperately needed shut-eye !

We passed through Bouse AZ on Arizona Hwy 72 at 3:40pm and arrived in Parker AZ at 4:05pm.

We ” chilled out ” in Parker while we enjoyed an extra large Circle K Froster.

We rolled into ” our ” Windsor Inn at 5:40pm.

” Our ” room 107. This will be ” home ” for us into next April 2023.

And, after we got some of our things into our room ..

” Patti let’s call Michael !” and ask him to meet us (where else) at The Golden Phoenix for some (Gullible just for you !) Singapore Rice Noodles.

We’ve never, any place on earth, enjoyed a better serving of Singapore Rice Noodles than this evening !

And ? It’s now 1:10am in the early morning of Friday, December 23rd and I am tired out after a long day !
