MAR 10, 23 .. WE’RE SAFELY “HOME” IN LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA

This Post started out to be a few lines saying only that : “Patti and I got home safely.” because I am “dead tired” after the past three days.

Oh My.. Oh My..

ON A ZERO TO TEN .. TODAY WAS AT LEAST A TWENTY.

First the weather was absolutely “picture perfect”. Clear and sunny and in the high 60’s and low 70’s. Patti finished her Mayo Clinic appointments in fine fashion. We enjoyed our trip from Phoenix back to Lake Havasu City. Lastly we enjoyed Michael’s 75th Birthday with dinner at the Golden Phoenix here in Lake Havasu City.

No! That is not to say we didn’t have some challenges BUT even a “perfect day” is going to have some “moments”.

We were up “early”.  I was up before 6am and Patti was up at 7am.

We had an 8:35am appointment (we were early) at the Mayo Clinic Hospital for Patti’s echocardiogram that was ordered yesterday by Patti’s Cardiologist. Just in case you’ve forgotten, an echocardiogram uses sound waves to create pictures of the heart. This common test can show blood flow through the heart and heart valves. Then your Cardiologist can use the pictures from the test to find heart disease and other heart conditions.

Patti’s 30 minute procedure was completed on time and we were back at our motel at 9:25am. We packed out of our room and at 10:40am were “on the road” (heading South on Interstate Highway 17 at Bell Road in North Phoenix). We “flew at the limit” South to I-10 and headed West following the road signs to Los Angeles).

Then the  first “Very Dark Cloud” of our perfect day struck us. We encountered a construction zone that took the traffic on I-10 from three lanes to two lanes to one lane. Stopped, standing still, then creeping slowly. Back to stopped, standing still, to creeping slowly as one lane ended causing merging delays. Then the second lane eventually merged into one lane heading West on I-10. How long is 45 minutes? It is a long time in this sort of bumper to bumper traffic, going from stopped, standing still, and waiting then to creeping slowly.

It all “got sorted out” and we were again running “at the limit” when, in the far distance, a column of dark, ominous, black, smoke was rising. Not a good sign. And Yes! The traffic “slowed down to a crawl”.

We finally arrived at Exit 45 off I-10 onto Vicksburg Road at 1:46pm. With no construction and burning-tractor delays, we would have been approaching Lake Havasu City.

Bouse, Arizona

Where Oh Where Is Bouse, Arizona?

Can you find Bouse on the below map? Go left (West) out of Phoenix on I-10 and find Arizona Hwy 72 Vicksburg Junction. Bouse is up AZ 72 going to Parker.

What’s with Bouse, Arizona, Captain?

As you can see, there’s not much between Phoenix and Parker. Because Bouse is a “landmark” that we look forward to seeing on our four hour, 210 mile trips back and forth from Lake Havasu City and Phoenix, we have grown fond of, and used to seeing .. Bouse, Arizona.

During our trip from Lake Havasu City to Phoenix last January the 16th, I noticed that the pressure in our right rear tire was very low (20 psi). As we were driving through Bouse, Patti spotted the Bouce Tire Shop and we stopped to see if they would put some air into the tire to bring the pressure up to 60 psi. Tom and Jocquin were super friendly and took care of inflating the tire.

During this visit, Joaquin was not at the shop so we asked his son Daniel to tell him his friends from Alaska stopped by to say hello.

And now several photographs of a very special Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2357 and War Memorial in Bouse.

Wow huh? In Bouse, Arizona.

Oh Yes. There will be more about Bouse but not at this point in time.

Leaving Bouse heading for Parker and Lake Havasu City.

We got home to our apartment at 4:40pm. Today’s trip took us six (6) hours.

What a wonderful birthday it was! It was complete with a joyous, loving, fun and happy dinner with my two besties! Your zest and zeal for life is totally inspirational. Your endless generosity is forever humbly received….and paid forward. The companionship and dinner was par excellence! Your notes and cards are always cherished! I’m still in recovery mode for such a full day of celebration, best friends, dinner…and of course to share my journey with Little Bit with you, too!
Again, I am elated at the outcome of consultation with the fine Mayo doctors and staff. Oh, what a relief it is!

Thanks so very much for yet another stunning and inspirational comment Michael. Yes it was a great meal in a favorite restaurant with no rushing to end the evening. WE too are relieved and satisfied with the outcome of this most recent visit down to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. Now we will not have to wait until next Autumn (November or even December) to know about Patti’s heart (it turns out to be a) non issue. Thanks also for passing along Birthday Wishes to my younger son David. That was a very “kind touch” to your comment. Your Allies. Cap and Patti
