APR 13, 23 .. FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH

For What It’s Worth, after not writing and publishing a Post on blogspot for one full 31 day month (March 12th to April 12th) I finally “got cranked up” and published a new Post on blogspot. The below link will take you to it.

Back on September the 28th 2022, I published a Post about a friend from Russian Siberia who texted me here in the U.S.

When I received a text from an unknown number in New York City, I mentally “wrote the text off as spam or worse a scam.” You can read the Rest Of The Amazing Story of Sergei by going to the below link.

I am very pleased to let you know that Sergei and I “have remained in touch”. He recently sent me a photo of his current truck.

Here’s a little “spice” from our past several days.

The other day, one of our very best friends from Russian Siberia asked us IF we would like to join him and his wife for a visit with all of our mutual friends in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in early July. At first I was instantly “ready to go” and immediately contacted one of our very best friends in Ulaanbaatar asking for assistance in helping us rent a flat for possibly a full month. I then considered getting a flat in Hong Kong as well.

“Then I got to thinking”!

Then I “got to REALLY thinking about it.”

I texted both our Russian friend and our Mongolian friend and “politely begged off” saying that we would not be able to make such a trip.

There is a “lot between the above lines”.

IF you are in any way “savvy” about the situation over there in that part of this world, you will agree with my decision.

Quite a nice, loving invitation from your Mongolian friends. I can see where the temptation to jump at the opportunity would be. Yet, I am so happy that you ‘begged off’ due to ‘a lot in-between’. The war in Ukraine and the unpredictable actions of a autocratic despot are much too dangerous to be easily dismissed. I pray there will be peace and stability that returns to all European countries and their citizens. Soon. Meanwhile, lets celebrate our freedoms here! (just an afterthought: Mongolian TV just may not air Jeopardy or Survivor! lol)
    Love ya, both….

Well Michael, you “read between the lines very VERY well”. We can’t afford, for one nano-second, to be “sitting ducks” and that is for sure. Thanks so very much Michael for your support. Cap

Yep Kit. When I REALLY thought about it, I realized we would be like “sitting ducks” during the heart of the season. Over there we “stick out like a sore thumb” we are that noticeable on the street. Cap

Tempting, though, wasn’t it? But, like Marilyn Monroe is purported to have said, “Have you ever noticed that ‘What the hell’ is always the right decision?”

So there I am, right in someone’s gunsight who is thinking.. “What the hell let’s take that American DOWN !!” or worse, “Let’s capture that American!” But yes, it was tempting and I began planning the trip, one that was to last several or more months. After all I like it very much over there. There is SO much to like and to enjoy. BUT not now at this time Gullible.

The state department has issued no warnings for Mongolia, only exercise normal precautions. Hong Kong? I would stay away from there.

Air pollution is Mongolia’s biggest problem.

You can face the same dangers that you fear anywhere in the world, including in your own neighborhood.

  3. Eryn

I agree you made the right decision, but I imagine it was exciting for a bit thinking about the prospect of going back over there. You are both such travelers! Sending love from Alaska!

Yes Eryn, when I REALLY pondered the trip, it became clear-as-a-bell that going over there was NOT a good decision. Far too risky indeed. Thanks for your support. Cap and Patti (who was REALLY relieved when I backed off the idea).
