SEP 17, 23 (1/2) .. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? AND A TRIP NORTH

Patti saw the above cartoon in our local newspaper. It IS a hoot and a holler!

Sunday, September the 17th, Week 2 of the NFL 2023-24 Schedule.

Up here in Alaska, we get a very limited number of NFL games on our television plan. We DO get the major networks, ABC (but not ESPN), FOX, CBS and NBC. Like most of you, just because a game is on a major network does not mean we get to see it.

Last Thursday there was one game (Eagles 34-28 Vikings). Tomorrow, Monday Night, there are two games (Saints vs Panthers and Browns vs Steelers).

Of the Thirteen (13) games today, we are EXTREMELY interested in only two of the games. “Our” Seahawks play “Our” Lions. Secondly, having watched the Jets win (almost) a miracle game last Sunday we really want to see how the Jets do at Dallas Cowboys.

Guess What? We hit “Bingo” today!

We will see both games.

Seahawks vs Lions this morning and Jets vs Cowboys this afternoon!

No it doesn’t get much better than this!

Today we also have to get ready for our trip tomorrow. Our plan is to head North to Fairbanks, Alaska, tomorrow, and then on Tuesday out to Manley Hot Springs.

I have “gone to any length” to attempt to get a Post published while we are in Manley. On Monday, in Fairbanks, I will be on the internet at our motel so I will be able to publish a Post for Tuesday the 19th. On Tuesday we will (God Willing we get there) be in Manley. A good friend in Manley has internet but NOT WiFi. She has said that I can use her computer to the extent I am able. Wonder of Wonders she is running Windows on a PC, and THAT I know how to do. Neither of us knows how to run Apple’s macOS operating system. And I HAVE an Apple Laptop.

BUT not being on my own computer, I will have no “Bookmarks” to get me to my websites.

Going to “any lengths” to be connected, I have purchased a smart phone plan with GCI who is the ONLY mobile phone provider in Manley. You have a GCI plan or you don’t make any calls anywhere!

My $25 a month plan will have one GB (1 gig) for data. I can make unlimited texts all over the country. Out going calls : Are limited to Alaska only BUT for an additional 20¢ a minute, I CAN call the lower 48 States. So I have put a $5 dollar deposit on my plan so IF I do make a call to the lower 48, I don’t have to worry about being bothered with paying the fee of 20¢ a minute before my call will go through! I called Andrej to try my system and my call went through perfectly with absolutely no delays. My balance is now $4.80 precisely what it should be.

Andrej, my webmaster, will be “standing by” in Royal Oak, Michigan, to work with me to keep our Posts coming.

IF I can publish Posts Monday (this is a given as it will be published this evening from home), Tuesday (also a given since our motel Monday Night in Fairbanks has WiFi and internet), Wednesday the 20th (it’s tricky being in Manley on Tuesday) and Thursday the 21st (also tricky since we may still be in Manley), I will complete ONE FULL YEAR of Posts not having missed one single day!

Time And Time Alone Will Tell!

Does The Shadow Know : Will we indeed make the trip tomorrow on Monday or put it off to Tuesday.

Heard from Peyton Manning : It’s What I Do!

I love the cartoon! Sometimes, I can be a little bit crazy like that. Today, I watched the 49ers with Mr. (IR)Relevant as quarterback. He did pretty good, not as good as his prior games but he got the job done. I was also switching between the 49ers and Giants baseball. The Giants have been atrocious. We lost 3 in a row to the NL gutter team. We squeaked by said team today (11-10). I told a friend that if they lost 4 in a row to said team, I was going to burn my Giants clothing because I was done with them. Thankfully, I don’t have to follow through with that as I really don’t want to deal with a fire in my backyard in the midst of fire season.

I wish you safe travels this week and solid internet access so you can keep your publishing streak going ( a good streak, quite unlike the the Giants streak.)

Yes we too loved the cartoon! It’s the coin toss! Too funny Kathleen. Not wanting to burn your Giants clothing because you really don’t want to deal with a fire in your backyard in the midst of fire season. Very good thinking! So the Colorado Rockies are the NL Gutter Team? Thanks for your travel wishes and for acknowledging my website daily postings streak. Smiles .. Cap and Patti
