Yesterday evening one of the monumental football games of the current NFL season was played. The Baltimore Ravens traveled to San Francisco to play the 49ers.
Patti was willing to miss her Monday Women’s only meeting so I would not be home on Christmas Evening by myself. Then Patti found out that, for this one Monday night, men were welcome to attend the Women’s only meeting because it had become part of a Christmas Alkathon. And Patti kind-of-sort-of wanted to attend the meeting.
Dum de Dum Dum!
Captain? Will it be the monumental football game or Will it be Patti’s meeting?
Oh Come On! This is a No Brainer.
We both totally enjoyed the Women’s meeting with men allowed!
And? Your Captain named the meeting topic from page 85 of the Big Book and shared with passion about Be On Guard For The Ungarded Moment, Think The Drink, and Play The Tape ALL THE WAY THROUGH and my breaking my left hip in Dubai November 25th 2016.
You win some. You lose many.
This was an all time WINNING decision, skip the game and go to the meeting!
Are you all sitting down? Good! I am seriously debating skipping the February 11th Super Bowl because of a conflict with a Mayo Clinic Appointment for Patti on February 12th. Will this actually happen? Does The Shadow Know? Only time will tell!

Cap, thank you for lighting a fire under my…. sometimes my ‘multi-tasking’ persona just wants to ‘scan’ a page rather than to follow each link. Still a resident part of my former days as a printer, proof-reader, journalist.
Thank you for the spiritual reminder ‘pause, pray….proceed!’ I need to practice this more often. Perhaps it will free me of my ‘reaction’ to life. A lifetime character vulnerability which is self chosen. I do know this.
And your wonderful, colorful pictures of Christmas in Hong Kong and Russia. I do love the Hong Kong xmas pics more. One would have an impossible time trying to dissuade me from chasing Santa’s helpers! lol The decorations are impressive and over-the-moon beautiful.
And, lastly. Now I’m familarized with the mtg. atmosphere at the LHC 10am Sunday mtg. You know that I have my dedication to the 9am Sun grp. Newcomers mtg.
I hope you and Patti have a super joyous and happy holiday season as we are very close to bringing in the New Year, 2024! Wow! Where did 2023 go?? lol

Thanks Michael for another amazing comment! I picked up Pause.. Pray.. Proceed.. at our Sunday Meeting at the hospital. Happy you noticed it and liked it. It truly IS great advice. It takes Pause When Agitated from the Big Book and takes it up a few notches. Happy you liked the Christmas photos taken in Hong and Russia. More people in the Hong Kong photos. The Russian photos were more about the amazing Russian Churches. Oh YES!! Where Oh Where did 2023 go Michael. Have a safe run up to Las Vegas on Thursday. Cap and Patti
Oh Cap, it was an excellent choice to go to the meeting as it was a painful (for 49er fans) game to watch. The 49ers have played some great football this year so I am not complaining about 5 interceptions. But you have to admit, 5 is a stunning number of interceptions in one game. Still, it was exciting and I screamed a fair amount. A belated Merry Christmas to you and Patti.
Kathleen, all day today (Tuesday the 26th) I have been “patting myself on the back” for taking the “High Road” and supporting Patti and her ladies meeting she really wanted to attend but would have stayed with me had I opted for the football game.
