JAN 18, 24 .. THE 2024 LAKE HAVASU BALLOON FEST BEGINS TODAY

I snapped the above photo back on Friday, January the 21st, 2022, at 8:34am.  When I came out of our room at the Windsor Inn, here in Lake Havasu City, there they all were!

To this instant, it is one of my all time favorite Hot Air Balloon photos.

The next year (last January 2023) I was active in the Balloon Fest as a volunteer.

This year will be my second year as a volunteer. Patti plans to join me this Saturday morning when I will be “working” the 5K and 10K walking / jogging event.

IF you click onto the below link, you will be amazed at the schedule of events at this year’s Balloon Fest.

THE PROBLEM (Taa-Daa) : On Saturday and Sunday, the National Football League Playoffs are being televised. There will be two games each day.

THE SOLUTION : My volunteer shift on Saturday is from 8am until 10am. The NFL games are in the afternoon and early evening. So no real problem Saturday.

The same for Sunday when the Balloon Fest is “Winding Down” so no issue Sunday either.

So today we will be out and about weather permitting.

Weather Permitting Captain? We thought you and Patti were in Paradise there in Lake Havasu City!

Wind !

Hot Air Balloons will never launch in winds higher than 12 mph because strong winds can damage the balloons and cause a balloon pilot to overshoot an anticipated landing area. Strong winds can also cause hard landings and require more space for landing than is normal. The optimal wind speed for them to successfully fly is from 4 to 8 miles per hour.

There you have it Sports Fans. That’s all for today. It may be a very busy day depending on the winds.

    Cap,
why is the paper of the newspaper so dark? It is usually white… Is it because of the brightness of the photo or the paper is made from something dark…?

Olga I can’t answer your question. I took another set of photos and inserted the newly taken photos into the Post. Do the new photos look better to you and not so “dark” Olga. Very good observation. Thanks Olga. Cap and Patti

Howdy Cap and Patti, my fine balloon aficionados! Thank you both for all of your volunteerism and participation in making our Balloon Festival a true delight for all who witness and play in it! And OMG! What a fine day of blue skies and warm temps we have to start out!
Hoping to catch up with you in-between the festivities and football to be watched this weekend!
    Sending our love and hugs,
Michael and Little Bit (she just went to the groomers yesterday….so soft and loveable!)

It IS fun to be, and to some degree FEEL, a part of the Lake Havasu City community Michael. Yes indeed we have been having some very nice weather for sure. Happy Little Bit was groomed and is happy about it. Thanks for your support and for your interest Michael. Cap and Patti
