Senior Moment(s)

I just added this category to our website. Then I went back in time and added it to a previous Post. There are many, read MANY instances in prior (some long ago) Posts where this category would fit nicely.

I am sharing this “Doozy” with you because IF you have done something akin to this, you won’t feel alone.

I could add yet another category (but I won’t) called: I am losing it!

I have never, as in never ever, returned any item(s) to Amazon. I recently purchased a set of five “V Neck” T-Shirts. I received them and tried one on. It did “not feel right” to me. It was too large and too long, and the material was extremely light weight, but I didn’t immediately decide to return it. Finally, after several days of wearing one of the five, I told Patti “I can’t live with these.”

I don’t have an Amazon App on any of my smart phones.

So I got online with my laptop and signed into my Amazon account. I discovered (at least for me, who has never ever in over 21 years made a return) it is easy. All I had to do was answer a few very simple and basic questions then wait for an email code to be sent to me.

Then I was to go to our local Staples Store with my T-Shirts and my local Staples Store (for absolutely free, no cost to me) would “do the rest”.

Step One .. Out and off Patti and I went to our local Staples Store. I took my laptop with me so I could receive by email my Amazon code. Are you all with me? We arrived and I discovered Senior Moment that I had left the T-Shirts I wanted to return at our apartment!

I have the answer to this blunder. The answer was when I decided to return them, I should have immediately put the T-Shirts into our truck. See Below.

Step Two .. Back to our apartment we drove. I got the T-Shirts. Off to Staples we drove. I went in and set up my laptop and I was “in business”. I brought up my Amazon Account to sign in. Oh Trust Me. In twenty one years I “know the deal” signing in. You must have your smart phone with you so Amazon can verify it is you trying to sign in.

Senior Moment .. I had left my smart phone at our apartment! I had two with me but NOT the Amazon Account smart phone. So I could not sign into my account.

Step Three .. Home we went. Back with the T-Shirts and laptop and the correct smart phone we went. I brought up the Amazon Code.

BINGO..Staples downloaded the above code and did the rest.

Below.

More than once, I have headed off to our local Post Office to post mail and check our post office box. Senior Moment .. More than once I have left the mail I was going to mail at our apartment.

The answer : When I have mail to mail, I put it into our truck, often on the dash in front of the steering wheel.

Today, Monday March 11th, at 1pm, my neighbor Eddie and I are out and off to the Havasu Landing Casino to play the slot machines.

Will I hit a BIG WIN?

We’ll see!

Cap and Patti

Khwāje Shams-od-Dīn Moḥammad Ḥāfeẓ-e Shīrāzī, known by his pen name Hafiz or Hafez, was a Persian lyric poet whose collected works are regarded by many as one of the highest pinnacles of Persian literature.

The Day Sky

Let us be like

Two falling stars in the day sky.

Let no one know of our sublime beauty

As we hold hands with God

And burn.

Into a sacred existence that defies-

That surpasses

Every description of ecstasy

And Love.

Oh, how I can relate. Driving to the post office WITH THE MAIL BESIDE ME and forgetting to drop it in the slot!

Walking around for 20 minutes looking for my reading glasses only to find them hanging from the front of my tee shirt.

BTW, I hate those codes that are part of two-part sign ons. You can, however, opt to have them sent to your e-mail, thus having the laptop with you serves two purposes.

In my case, the phone option creates a problem as both my land line and cell numbers have the last four digits alike. When “they” ask which option, I never know which phone number they will use.

As we all know, growing older isn’t for the weak-hearted. Plus, learning all this digital stuff in the last quarter of our lives brings new challenges daily. Soon it will be almost impossible to travel or do much of anything if one isn’t “with” the cell phone age.

That IS even better Gullible. Driving to the post office WITH THE MAIL BESIDE ME and forgetting to drop it in the slot! Now that (having two phones with identical last four numbers) is another “something” as to where they will send the code. You are “successfully one upping me” Gullible!! Right on. You are into working with digital formats or you can’t do many MANY things from getting the best prices via digital shopping sales. Smiles .. Cap and Patti

Yes, and what I was trying to tell you, Cap, is that you could have requested the code to be sent to your email and accessed it with your laptop at the store. Assuming, you remembered to bring the return items with you, of course.

Reply. Without being able to sign into my Amazon Account, they won’t email a code to me.

I can NOT sign into my Amazon Account without the smart phone number attached to my account because they have the two part sign in procedure: a pass word and a text message code to your smart phone. Without the code I can’t sign in. Without my smart phone I can’t get the code. See? .. Smiles .. Cap

No, as I said, you could have Amazon send the code to your email. That’s what I do.

My Reply .. IF I cannot contact Amazon, which I couldn’t do because I have opted to have the two part security system (a password and a smart phone to text a code) then there is NO WAY Amazon can send me the QR by email or text or any method. You MUST access your Amazon account.

Because of the two (password and text message code) sign in code procedure. Here at home working with my laptop, I always have my smart phones so no problem. But at Staples I did not have my Anchorage smart phone. See?

I am with Gullible on the return issue. I have them send the code to my email which I can access on my phone. When I get to the UPS store (where I go to return Amazon packages), I open my email and have them scan the QR. I don’t need to log into Amazon to get it.

I am also one of those that puts my mail behind the steering wheel so I don’t forget to go to the mailbox. I have yet to get to the post office and realize I forgot the mail. That’s a yet, I am sure! I have been known to look for my cell phone while it’s in the pocket of something I am wearing.

Hi Kathleen. Thanks for your comment. Kathleen, IF I cannot contact Amazon, which I can’t do because I DO NOT USE AN AMAZON APP on my phone and I have opted to have the two part security system on my laptop (a password and a smart phone to text a code) then there is NO WAY Amazon can send me the QR. See? The micro second I had my correct smart phone, I was successful in logging in and getting the QR code. Smiles and thanks for all of your support. Cap
