National Medal of Honor Day..

Then we have ..

Tolkien Reading Day.. 

I said to myself.. “Who IS Tolkien?” and What on earth is Tolkien Reading Day?

Tolkien Reading Day is held on the 25th of March each year. The date of the 25th of March was chosen as the date on which the Ring was destroyed, completing Frodo’s quest and vanquishing Sauron.

It has been organized by the Tolkien Society since 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien by reading favorite passages. We particularly encourage schools, museums and libraries to host their own Tolkien Reading Day events.

YOU guessed it! I am going for a ferry boat ride on Lake Havasu.

    Well, Cap, you missed what might have been one of your favorite “Nation” days. Saturday was National Chip and Dip day. It applies if you look at nachos as passive chips with dips.

    And way back in January, the 19th was National Popcorn day, which is, in fact, the founding “National Day” run by an entrepreneur named Marlo Anderson. He set up a website that features some 1500 “national” days named by companies and organizations.

    The horrid truth is, these are all just for fun. Congress and only Congress decides what days are recognized as holidays by the federal government.
