APR 10, 24 .. TOTAL ECLIPSE.. NATIONAL TODAY.. SENIOR MOMENT.. SURVIVOR..

TOTAL ECLIPSE..

I assume all of you know that last Monday we had a total Eclipse of the Sun here in the United States.

Here are just a few photos (that I picked off the myriad of photos on the internet) of the eclipse in several stages.

Some facts that surprised me. I could say that “shocked” me.

Here in the United States, the next eclipse will be August 22, 2044! It will only be visible in three states, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. If you want to see a listing of recent eclipses (going back to 1778) please click onto the below link.

I was truly amazed (yes shocked) at how relatively rare they are here in the United States.

NOTE from Patti: I was fortunate enough to actually see a total eclipse of the sun in Talkeetna, Alaska on July 20th of 1963 (my first summer in Alaska). A friend broached the topic to a group of us one day, telling us it was coming, and suggesting the group travel by train from Anchorage to Talkeetna the morning of the eclipse.  We did just that.  We got off the train and walked down to the river and waited.  All of a sudden daylight began to quickly drift away.  All the birds grew silent.  Even dogs who were with some of the crowd became very still.  The total eclipse minutes passed and it began to get light again.  The birds began to chirp and sing again.  The dogs looked around with expressions that seemed to say, “What happened?”  It was quite the experience!!  We returned by train marveling at what we had seen.  I can, to this day, relive the entire experience in my mind.

NATIONAL TODAY..

NATIONAL ERASE SELF-NEGATIVITY DAY .. April 10 means today is National Erase Self-Negativity Day on the National Day Calendar. We are spending the day encouraging everyone to take steps toward erasing the influence negative self-talk has on our lives. It’s also a day where we will focus on changing this negative habit into a time of personal empowerment.
Some people think speaking negatively to themselves is a way for them to identify their downfalls or shortcomings and move forward. Even though we may believe negative self-talk is a reasonable and a harmless thing to do, this type of behavior can significantly damage self-esteem over time. We are here to tell you speaking negatively to ourselves is a habit. A bad habit. The good news is we can begin to erase the habit of negative self-talk starting today on National Erase Self-Negativity Day.

Whew! Can anyone relate?

SENIOR MOMENT  .. Another one!

Just yesterday.

A few hours ago, I wrote about my Senior Moment last Monday about me forgetting that Monday is my slot machine day with my neighbor Eddie and inadvertently scheduled Patti and I to watch the March Madness Championship game with our friend Michael.

OK. Monday is my day to go to the Casino with Eddie to have an outing. Get it? Got it? Good?

So what did I do yesterday? I scheduled an Echocardiogram of my heart when? Next Monday at 2pm!

Is this nuts? Am I nuts?

When I realized what I did I said to Patti, “Well! Maybe getting the Echocardiogram of my heart is more important than playing a slot machine!”

Patti agreed!

Then I said to myself, “Whang It!” and I called the hospital scheduling office and changed the Echocardiogram to 12:30pm Tuesday!

Rocky and my afternoon with Eddie are more fun than an Echocardiogram!

Thanks Robert. Please look at my reply to Gullible. It begins thusly ..Gullible I am NOT into slot machine gambling per se. I only began to toy with it in Laughlin, Nevada, back a few years ago to earn True Rewards Points to get hotel room discounts and Patti and I got involved with Shamrock.

Robert .. For some years Patti and I visited the Havasu Landing Casino and I never, ever, not one time, played a slot machine. Then Eddie got me familiarized with Rocky and Wonder Woman. En route home to Anchorage in early May, we WILL play Shamrock at the Edgewater and that will be that until November.

I have absolutely NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in on-line slot machine websites. Smiling. Cap
