APR 13, 24 .. NATIONAL TODAY..

NATIONAL TODAY..

Out of fourteen (14) categories, the below two “caught my eye”!

National Silly Earring Day.. Is celebrated every year on April 13. It was founded in April 2021 by Olena Kagui. She sells thousands of earrings faithfully amassed on Oddity Cart. Earrings are the perfect accessory; they come in various styles and sizes. She seems to have a perfect earring for every occasion. Silly earrings are a terrific way to express yourself while putting a smile on everyone’s face. Wear googly-eyed hot dogs, bright power tools, big disco balls, pizzas, whatever you want! Your imagination is the only limit.

Earrings are not only made using valuable metals and diamonds but also fabric, polymer clay, and resin. There are no documented or hypothetical accounts of the first earrings. We know that earrings and piercings are quite ancient practices, as in biblical times. Guys generally wore them. In the city of Persepolis, the capital of the Achaemenid Empire (550 B.C. — 330 B.C.), archeological evidence in the form of wall carvings suggests that Persian men wore earrings.

NATIONAL SCRABBLE DAY.. Is celebrated on April 13th and it recognizes a game played around the world. Originally named Lexiko and then Criss-Cross Words, Alfred Mosher Butts eventually settled on the name Scrabble. The amateur artist and unemployed architect developed the word game in the midst of the depression. Still, it wasn’t until 1948, a final name change and a trademark that Butts finally began to produce the game.

Scrabble is played with two to four players who score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15 x 15 grid.

To be any good at all playing Scrabble or working Crossword Puzzles*, one MUST really know the dictionary.

*National Crossword Puzzle Day is celebrated on December 21 every year. In 2024 National Crossword Puzzle Day will occur on a Saturday.

That’s it for today. It IS slowly but steadily “warming up” down here in the Arizona Desert. “Touching” the 90°F mark. Patti turned on our air conditioning for the very first time yesterday.

By the way, earrings and Scrabble are my first entertainments if it is about having fun! ☺
