SEP 19, 24 .. THAILAND.. CATS.. CHEESEBURGERS AND GULLIBLE..

THAILAND

I have traveled in, and throughout, Thailand from the North (Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai) to the South (Phuket) with time spent in Bangkok (BKK as world travelers call it) as well. Bangkok is also known as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon in Thai, and colloquially as Krung Thep.

I was fascinated to learn that The Bridge Over The River Kwai (Khwea) a 1957 movie starring William Holden and Alec Guinness that I enjoyed, is located very close to the Eastern side of Bangkok. I visited the site while there on one of my trips through BKK.

Both Patti and I love Pad Thai almost (but not quite) as well as our Singapore Rice Noodles. 

A longtime friend of forty six years (46) that I met in 1978, has a small home in the Northern part of Thailand (Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai areas). 

Patti and I had read about flooding in the North of Thailand. We called Jerry up to wish him happy birthday (yesterday the 18th of September) and asked him if he was home in California or over in Thailand and if so, was his home in any danger of the flooding.

He sent us the below photo taken near his home and went on to say his home was untouched so far by the serious flooding.

With our National Today “Days” we stress that the “Day” is something that we know about and are interested in.

I love Hamburgers.  I crave Hamburgers. Give me In-N-Out Burgers. Dial me up Whoppers and double Whoppers and triple Whoppers. Hand me a bag of White Castle Burgers. I will step right up for McDonald’s quarter pounders. 

BUT .. I most definitely, absolutely, positively do NOT eat Cheeseburgers Gullible. I can’t recall ever, in my lifetime, eating a Cheeseburger. I am NOT a Cheeseburger aficionado!! No! No way. So we did not miss seeing the Cheeseburger Day! Smiling .. Cap. 

I did not say the below words in our above reply..

“Gullible? Why on this good earth would anyone want to spoil a hamburger by putting Cheese on it?”

BUT Patti is a cat lover and has been very, VERY close to Tom Cat and Puff Cat. Other Cat lovers include Kathleen and Kit and Kleiner Bär (to name just a few) so we personally relate to Cats.

Well what are we going to learn here?

However, it should come as no surprise that domesticating cats was not an easy task. They don’t have that haughty attitude for no reason. Your cat will probably share up to 99% of the same D.N.A. sequence as other cats but the minor differences matter a lot. These differentials occur via natural mutations and form gene variants.

Cats’ claws are curled downward, so they can’t climb down trees head-on and must instead back down the trunk.

Siamese cats will sometimes mimic a crying baby to get attention.

Cats adapt to any living environment, from a little one-bedroom apartment in the city to a large cottage in the countryside. They are amazing pals.

Despite the fact that cats are largely non-verbal communicators, they will communicate with you if you speak to them. The more you converse with your cat, the more it will reply.

      We don’t know of a Thai restaurant in LHC Michael. Do you know of one. Well we DO HAVE Singapore Rice Noodles don’t we?

    Well, I am disappointed that I didn’t know it was national cheeseburger day yesterday. After my trip to the doctor for a steroid shot in the shoulder, I decided to treat myself to comfort food at Nation’s. I don’t know if you remember that chain but they are also well known for their many pies. What I love about their burgers is that they put two big slices of onion on them. I didn’t ask for cheese because the taste of the burger as it is makes me very happy.

    When I got home, my 3 cats expected lunch, also. Nope, I wanted to slowly enjoy my burger while it was hot. Savour every bite. Xena and Scarlett had a lot to say about their delay but I successfully ignored them. Rocky is so quiet (except when he is bounding around the house chasing his toys), I have to be very close to him to hear his meow, which is rare. The exception being our last trip to the vet where he meowed fairly loudly the whole way there and the entire trip home. Not a peep at the vet though.

    If you are on Instagram, I would suggest checking out Mr. Kitters the cat. He wears a camera as he explores the neighborhood as do several of his siblings. Sometimes he talks quite a bit when he is wandering around. It’s also quite interesting to see the world from the cat’s level.

      I was going back to read some days I had missed and saw the White Castle event. I remember hearing about White Castle back in college (NDSU-North Dakota State U), around 1981 or 1982. My friends told me if I ever wanted to empty my intestines, I should eat at WC. There wasn’t WC near Fargo ND so I didn’t get to try WC until around post 2011 when I took a job in St Paul MN. My friends were correct. My intestines were not happy. As I recall, I only had one burger, not the sliders and my body said “NEVER AGAIN.” Also not a fan of In-n-Out. Last time I went, it was so unbelievably salty and that was long before I had to start a low sodium diet. Prior to that, my opinion was that they were average. I know millions don’t agree. There is always a super long line at the drive thru and very crowded inside, if you can find a parking spot.
