DEC 13, 24.. FRIDAY THE 13th.. DANNY Z 48073..

When I came out here to write this Post, I told Patti, “I am going to publish a very short, to the point, Post. Go to bed for a few hours, get up and write some more.”

Look what happened on my way to publish “a very short, to the point, Post.”

FRIDAY  THE  THIRTEENTH

NATIONAL TODAY / NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR.. Are the sources of most, but not 100%, of the information on our various “Days” such as today.

There are not that many Friday The 13ths in any given calendar year.

In 2024 we have two.. September and today December. In 2025 we only have one in June. In 2026 we have three of them, in February, March and November..

Superstitions are beliefs that have no factual support. They are beliefs in, or practice of, events or processes that can not be explained by science or reason. Yet many people still choose to follow them.

There are superstitious beliefs held in every culture. You might be surprised to learn that these superstitions may have started with very logical reasoning and, over time, got blown out of proportion.

While some believe that following superstitions can bring them good luck, others follow these traditions because they are afraid of what might happen if they don’t. Because of this fear, superstition has been a part of human history for centuries.

The history of superstition is a complex and fascinating one. While many superstitions are harmless, they can also lead to discrimination, prejudice, and even violence. This is especially true when they’re combined with religious beliefs.

According to folklore historian Donald Dossey, the unlucky nature of the number “13” originated with a Norse myth about 12 gods having a dinner party in Valhalla. The trickster god Loki, who was not invited, arrived as the 13th guest, and arranged for Höðr to shoot Balder with a mistletoe-tipped arrow. Dossey: “Balder died, and the whole Earth got dark. The whole Earth mourned. It was a bad, unlucky day.” This major event in Norse mythology caused the number 13 to be considered unlucky.

It goes past Friday the 13th.

The floors at the Edgewater Casino Hotel (as well as many commercial office buildings) skip the 13th number. Floors 1 through 12 are followed by  floors 14 up. NO 13th floor. Silly huh ?

Thursday, December the 12, 2024.. a/k/a Yesterday.

YES! Our day began with a medical appointment with Patti’s Primary Care Doctor. GREAT NEWS! Patti’s recent mammogram tested benign!

YES! Danny and I then headed for Laughlin, Nevada, and Bullhead City, Arizona, at 12:35pm. 

YES Danny and I stopped for a Wendy’s Frosty at Arizona Hwy 95 and Interstate 40. 

YES! On the way to Laughlin, Danny and I visited Oatman by way of Topock and Golden Shores. YES! Danny and I both saw and fed many Oatman Burros.

YES! Danny and I made a Walmart stop in Fort Mohave.

YES! Danny and I visited Ginny and Tom in Laughlin.

YES! Danny and I paid a visit to the Edgewater Hotel in Laughlin, Nevada.

YES! Danny and I played Shamrock, our favorite slot machine at the Edgewater. YES we bet $42 and won $21 so we lost $21. BUT Patti and I earned 168 True Rewards Points in the process. 

YES! Danny and I stopped at Sam’s Club in Bullhead City, Arizona. Danny shopped for Patti and me as I did some extensive work on my Sam’s Club account with the in-person Customer Service Staff. This was work that I could not accomplish online with an automated chat agent. 

YES! Danny and I “made it back” to Lake Havasu City in time to eat Singapore Rice Noodles with Patti at the Golden Phoenix.

YES! Danny and I, along with Patti, got our Sam’s Club shopping (4 boxes of Raisin Bran, 2 giant bags of Chedder Cheese popcorn, 4 containers of peanut brittle, 1 box of food bars, into our apartment along with unloading 4 boxes of hummus into our refrigerator.

YES! I AM tired.

YES! I am going to bed.

Friday, December 13th, 2024.. a/k/a Today

Danny and I, along with our neighbor Eddie, at 2pm will ride the Lake Havasu Ferry over to Havasu Landing Casino to enjoy playing “Rocky, Wonder Woman, Gold Fish” and other slot machines. 

When we return “around” 4pm, Danny, Patti and I will attend the “Friday Night Pizza Meeting” at Our House, a local meeting center.

At 7pm Patti and I plan to attend our “Friday Night Couples Meeting”.
