JAN 16, 25.. THANKS GINNY.. FOOD-HOT AND SPICY..

TODAY’S GUEST CONTRIBUTOR..

Ginny from Laughlin, Nevada.

Our great friend and supporter Ginny, had her television set on the other day.

Ginny was not actively watching it when..

All of a sudden the below image appeared..

Let’s zero in for a much closer look at the above image on Ginny’s T.V.

What !

On the left, Tom and Ginny. On the right Patti and yours truly.

I went back in time.

Eight (8) years ago, on January the 23rd, 2017 (the date in the lower left of the above image) , Patti and I were in the Sleep Inn Motel, in North Scottsdale (greater Phoenix) Arizona.

I was recovering from my left hip replacement surgery on December the 1st, 2016

Tom and Ginny had flown down from Detroit to Phoenix to visit Patti and I as well as Tom’s brother and to explore making Arizona their home. The photo was snapped on Ginny’s smart phone by a waitress in a local Fish Taco Restaurant close to our motel.

In the upper right corner of the above image is the date FRI, JAN 10.  This the date this year that the image appeared on Ginny’s T.V.

Ginny feels that perhaps the photo was in her Amazon account and her Amazon Fire Stick began to rotate photos on her T.V.

Yes I also wonder Ginny.. Does The Shadow Know?

FOOD-HOT AND SPICY..

I your Captain like Hot and Spicy Food so I could not pass up this Holiday courtesy.. NATIONAL TODAY / NATIONAL DAY CALENDAR.. Who are the sources of most, but not 100%, of the information on our various “Days” such as today.

I finally “met my match” in the Nation of Burma (Myanmar). Not only was a curry dish hot (spicy) it was hot in temperature and that burned my mouth when Itook my first bite. Yes but.. I did eat (about 75%) of it and “called it quits”.

January 16 is International Hot and Spicy Food Day, a day where you get to celebrate and devour some of the spiciest dishes in the world. Every country on the globe has its cooking style and recipes. And while some nations eat mild food, others enjoy hot food items that will make you gulp down a jug of water. Yes, there are some super spicy dishes available and, guess what, people aren’t afraid to consume them. Here’s a tip before you head out on a spice-eating spree, make sure your stomach can handle the chili and DO NOT DRINK water. Happy munching!

Spices have been consumed for over 6,000 years to add flavor to a dish and for their many health benefits. For instance, spices can combat inflammation and have healing properties. It’s due to these reasons that spices grew popular in ancient times.

Ancient Greeks imported Eastern spices such as pepper, cassia, cinnamon, and ginger to the Mediterranean since spices and herbs played a role in medical science. According to sources, around 460 to 377 B.C. Hippocrates wrote of herbs and spices that included saffron, cinnamon, thyme, coriander, mint, and marjoram. The “Father of Botany,” as he was known, in his two books, wrote about 600 spices and herbs in the period between 372 B.C. and 287 B.C. Romans created another use for spices — they often utilized them in spice-flavored wines and spice-scented balms and oils. Some spices also were used in poultices and healing plasters due to their healing properties. Curcumin too was used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat conditions like arthritis, autoimmune disorders, headaches, and nausea.

That is not all. Capsaicin, an active component of chili peppers, is known to destroy cancer cells. A 2015 U.S. and China study found that eating spicy food six or seven days a week lowered mortality rates by 14%. So yes, if you never liked spicy food, it is about time you change your diet. Trust us it’s a decision you will enjoy for the rest of your life.

Hot and Spicy Tid-Bits..

Spices are popular in hot climates because of their antibacterial properties.

Mexico is amongst the most famous countries where spices are loved.

Eat hot and spicy food to reduce weight and boost metabolism.

The Carolina Reaper chili pepper is a cultivar of the Capsicum chinense plant. Developed by American breeder Ed Currie, the pepper is red and gnarled, with a bumpy texture and small pointed tail. It was the hottest chili pepper in the world according to Guinness World Records from 2013 to 2023 before it was surpassed by Pepper X, which was also developed by Currie.

Spicy food has some advantages for the immune system and digestive health.

There you have it!

The lego flower bouquet was a challenge, but fun … Sam and Tim put together several flower Bouquets, I couldn’t believe how pretty they were so when Bobby sent me Christmas Amazon money I thought I’d try it myself … fun project… who says Legos are just for kids

Ginny we don’t know enough about Lego pieces to fathom how on earth you or Sam and Tim or anyone could make a flower arrangement. BUT Ginny, don’t forget.. You do NOT want to water the Lego flower arrangement when it gets dusty. Smiles .. Cap and Patti
