JAN 11, 14 (5/5) .. ICE HOCKEY IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA

Patti and I really enjoy seeing our local professional ice hockey team play games here in Anchorage Alaska at the Sullivan Arena.

Named after long-ago Mayor of Anchorage .. George M. Sullivan .. the Sullivan Arena is our major indoor sporting arena.  So I decided to put up a series of five posts detailing this fun activity.

What is the first thing that we do? We purchase tickets to the game(s) at the Alaska Aces Ticket Box Office shown below.

The below photo shows the ticket office as you are traveling South down the New Seward Highway.  Across and down the street in the distance on your right is the Sullivan Arena.  It will become clear as you go down the following photographs.

In the below photograph we have gone past the intersection shown above and are approaching the Sullivan Arena which is on the right in the distance.

“What’s that ‘Zilla?” .. “Yes ‘Zilla you are correct! It is not really a great idea to be shooting photographs in the traffic with one hand as I am driving with the other hand.”  The Sullivan Arena is now more visible to the right.

The Sullivan Arena is located on the New Seward Highway which happens to be one of the busiest streets here in Anchorage .. or for that matter .. one of the busiest streets in all of the State of Alaska !

The below photos show the Sullivan Arena as viewed from the perspective of the New Seward Highway side of the arena.

“What’s that you say ‘Zilla?” .. “It looks so dark and overcast Cap!” .. “It IS winter in Alaska ‘Zilla and while we do have daylight here in Alaska in the winter .. often it is NOT very ‘light’.

“Yes ‘Zilla?” .. “It could be a depressing place to live.” .. “You are keeping-up ‘Zilla!”

For those of you who plan to continue to read this series of five posts .. in the fifth and in the final post .. I have shown photos of the Sullivan Arena in the SUNNY and in the WONDERFUL Month-of-MAY in ALASKA!
