MAY 17, 25.. THE UNITED STATES MILITARY.. ARMED FORCES DAY..

I give proud and solemn thanks to NATIONAL TODAY for celebrating the below Holiday..

The Unites States Armed Forces comprise five branches of the military: the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard.

I am extremely proud of, said standing at attention and Saluting, my father, myself, my oldest son and my youngest son!

During World War II, my father served in the United States Coast Guard.

I personally served as an enlisted member of the United States Marine Corps, then after I graduated from University, I was a commissioned officer in the United States Navy CB’s (Sea Bees).

My eldest son served in the United States Army.

My youngest son served in the United States Air Force.

I must add Patti’s father and her eldest brother served in the United States Navy.

ARMED FORCES DAY..

This holiday was first conceived by President Harry S. Truman. Armed Forces Day was established in 1949.

Armed Forces Day is a special holiday for people all over the world to come together and thank the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. The creation of a single day celebration for all five branches of the United States military made sense due to its unification under the Department of Defense. Today, Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of every May, this year falling on May 17. Be sure to mark your calendar & support our military!
