FEB 13, 14 .. ICE HOCKEY IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA

This past weekend .. the weekend of Friday and Saturday .. February 7th and 8th .. it was Special Ceremony Time here for the Alaska Aces and their fans.   Several hockey players (some who were not associated with the Aces were also included) were cited for awards.  In addition the Stanley Cup of the NHL and the Kelly Cup of the ECHL were here on display.

So IF you can ‘bear-with-me’ for yet another Post of the Alaska Aces Ice Hockey Team .. here-we-go.

The 2012 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Championship winner Dallas Seavey had his dog team on-hand to participate in ‘The Doings’!  It was a bit-of-a-stretch for my small camera to ‘zoom-in’ but we did our best!

Can you ‘squint and make-out’ the dogs and their sled?  Dallas Seavey is ‘decked-out’ in his mushing gear!   The two hockey teams really had a ring-side-view of the ‘doings’!

In the below photo .. Dallas Seavey can be seen with his musher’s head lamp turned on.  Do you see him?

The ‘Doings’ were now wrapped up and the dignitaries walked off the ice in one direction and the dogs in the other direction.

In the below photo you can really see the dog team and their sled!  “Mush You Huskies!” Dallas Seavey said as they exit in the below photo!  One of the Aces players was really ready to get back to Ice Hockey!

OK it is time for some pre-game practice!

‘Boomer’ is the Ace’s Team Mascot and the children really love him.  He skates on the ice before games and between periods and during actual play he goes into the stands and mixes and mingles with everyone.

On Friday the 7th .. I forgot to wear my ‘Team Jersey’ to the game.  So I went back on Saturday the 8th to get a photo with the two championships trophies.

On the right is THE Stanley Cup given annually to the NHL Champion.  On the left is the Kelly Cup given annually to the ECHL Champion.

It was really nice to get the below photograph ‘decked-out’ in the Ace’s Team Colors!  The wait-in-line to stand with the two trophies was a good thirty (30) minutes.

And a ‘Happy Ending’ as the Aces won both games.
