JUN 5, 25.. HOT AIR BALLOONS.. MOONSHINE.. WHAT A PAIR TO “DRAW TO”..
At 8:15AM on Friday morning, January the 21st, 2022, our lives changed forever. I snapped the below photo from outside of our Windsor Inn Motel Room in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Then I woke Patti up and said: “Come outside and just look up at the sky!”
Instantly we became enthralled with HOT AIR BALLOONS!
Beginning in 2023 and including this year 2025, I have been an official Volunteer for the past three Lake Havasu City Balloon Festivals and Fairs with Patti right with me.

Well Hello Again NATIONAL TODAY ..
HOT AIR BALLOON DAY..
Get this: The hot air balloon is the oldest form of aviation!

Hot Air Balloon Day is celebrated on June 5.
In our humble opinions, Patti and I felt that Hot Air Balloon Day belongs either in October or January of the year and NOT on June the 5th!
This is because we know about the October Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and “Our Very Own” January Lake Havasu AZ Balloon Festival and Fair.
Then I googled the most spectacular “Top 12 Hot Air Balloon Festivals” in the United States.
https://www.timeout.com/usa/travel/best-hot-air-balloon-festivals-in-the-us
The list begins with Albuquerque NM in October, Teton Valley Driggs ID on July the 4th, Colorado Springs CO, Labor Day, Reno NV in early September, Readington NJ in late July, Kennett Square PA on Father’s Day in June, Gallup NM in early December, Quechee VT in mid-June, Decatur AL Memorial day, Statesville NC in late October, Temecula Valley Lake Skinner CA in late June and (whewie!) Phoenix, AZ mid January.
Sad to say, in spite of our opinions, “Our Very Own” January Lake Havasu AZ Balloon Festival and Fair was not listed in the Top 12.

I have already gone far and away, over and beyond, what I set out to do here. So if you want to read more, MUCH MORE, please click onto the below NATIONAL TODAY link.

Patti and I remain “Extremely Interested In Our Lake Havasu City Hot Air Balloons”. God Be Willing, I fully plan to volunteer again this next upcoming January 22nd to 25th, 2026 Festival and Fair.

Back to you NATIONAL TODAY..
MOONSHINE..

The below paragraph “Says It All” as to why in the world I selected the topic of MOONSHINE..
I worked professionally in NASCAR for several years and, Oh Yes, read on:
The origin of NASCAR is filled with stories of bootleggers hauling moonshine in their souped-up cars, running from authorities.
As the need for bootleggers waned, the drivers needed a way to show off their fast cars. They eventually began racing each other on local back roads, and then on dirt ovals.
NASCAR was born.
Historians note North Carolina’s tradition of auto racing developed in the garages of bootleggers, particularly on the roads between North Wilkesboro and Charlotte.
Today’s NASCAR doesn’t much resemble the early days of back roads and bootleggers, and the today’s home brewed whiskey doesn’t much resemble moonshine’s risk of blindness either.

Those making moonshine had to work in the dark to help them hide from authorities. Moonlight was their only guide. Thus you have MOONshine!

Smiling.
Cap and Patti with me.
Oh By The Way.
NBA 2025 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES..
This evening the National Basketball Association (NBA) Championship series begins in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The OKC Thunder will host the Indiana Pacers in a best of seven game series. The winner will be the NBA Champion. Neither team has ever been an NBA Champion.
Patti and I are both interested in the series and we hope we will be able to see the games on ABC Television.
