I sure don’t know why, NATIONAL TODAY chose to acknowledge The Summer Solstice on today, Saturday, June the 21st, when it was yesterday this year, Friday June the 20th.
The Longest Day (Summer Solstice) is observed on either June 20, 21, or 22. This year, it fell on June 20. The timing shifts because it depends on when the Sun reaches its northernmost point from the celestial equator.
Below is another NATIONAL TODAY Summer Solstice Holiday on June the 21st.
Now the below “makes all the sense in the world”.
The International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice is observed every year on June 21.

I quote NATIONAL TODAY.. “On National Daylight Appreciation Day, June 21, we get to enjoy the longest period of sunlight that we will experience in the entire year.”
This statement is incorrect. In 2025 longest period of sunlight that we will experience in the entire year was yesterday on June 20th.
I know. Who on this good earth cares that I got off onto the above “tangent” about NATIONAL TODAY and the 2025 Summer Solstice.
Bottom line. The editorial staff decided to have one (not varying by the year) Summer Solstice Day.
And that also “makes all the sense in the world”.
Not even The Shadow knows why yours truly got off on the above tangent!
