NATIONAL CASHEW DAY..
National Cashew Day is celebrated every year on November 23.
The name ‘cashew’ comes from the Portuguese for its fruit, ‘caju’ or ‘acaju,’ derived from the Tupian word ‘acajú,’ which means ‘nut that produces itself.’
Cashews, unlike other nuts, grow like tails out of the bottom of cashew apples.
Portuguese missionaries brought cashews to Goa, India, in 1560. The Indian climate proved the perfect fit to plant them, and cashews took the country by storm.
Europeans first discovered cashews in Brazil in 1558.
It wasn’t until 1905 that cashews reached the United States.
By 1941, a little over 22,000 tons were imported from India annually.
The United States is responsible for the consumption of more than 90% of cashews produced globally!
Cashew nuts are used to make industrial products like paint, brake liners, lubricants, waterproofing. In World War II, they were used for arms production.
Cashews are packed with protein and essential vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin E, and so much more. They are rich in copper, which keeps the immune system healthy.

Do any of you know what STIR-UP SUNDAY is?
Patti and I did not have a clue!
Today some people celebrate Stir-Up Sunday which takes place on the last Sunday before the first Advent Sunday, on November 23.
The name ‘stir-up’ comes from the opening words of the collect, from the Book of Common Prayer (1549), which read: “Stir-up, we beseech thee, O Lord …”
I apologize but I had never heard of Stir-Up Sunday!
Ah Hah! Stir-Up Sunday is primarily celebrated in England.
It’s religiously important to Christians, who mark the day with specific Bible readings.
Stir-Up Sunday has strong ties to its religious roots, but it is often also a festive holiday for families to bake a Christmas meal together!
Stir-Up Sunday celebrants stir the pudding from East to West, to honor the wise men who journeyed in this direction to meet the baby Jesus.
Since the Victorian era, it has become a day of family celebration and cooking! Families stir pudding and make wishes for the new year on this day. Besides family bonding, the day offers a chance to cross off at least one item on your Christmas to-do list — pudding!
Representing Christ and his 12 disciples, a traditional Christmas pudding includes 13 ingredients.
