Neither Patti nor myself are “Birders”.
But..
Oh My.. Oh My.. Oh My.. Our Friend and Ally Gullible IS a “For Real Birder”.
So “Just For Gullible” we decided to look at the below National Bird Day..
It’s always interesting when two NATIONAL TODAY Holidays that we find interesting are, see above image, “Back to Back” in the queue!
National Bird Day is celebrated every January 5.
Birds have always held a special place in our hearts. Birds are amazing and they’re also a massive animal group under particular threat. The phrase “canary in the coal mine” was named after birds for a reason..
Birds are the barometers of the environmental health of our planet.
The fact that so many bird species are under threat thanks to the illegal pet trade, disease, and habitat loss means it’s more important than ever to raise public awareness of the needs of birds. The survival of hundreds of species depends on it!

NATIONAL DAY OF DIALOGUE..
“LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS” ..
Interesting. One of our all time favorite Recovery Meetings is the Let’s Talk About It Group down in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dialogue is a focused conversation to increase understanding, address problems, and question thoughts and actions.
Dialogue is not easy. It takes effort because you have to be willing to listen to what is being said and at the same time really think about your response. It is not just about airing opinions, it is an effort to understand what is being said.
It can improve relations and cooperation. It can foster respectful conversation on a broad range of public issues, policies, and topics.
You’ve probably experienced being given the silent treatment, or even giving it. Dialogue can avoid this. Start a dialogue to resolve issues you’re having with your partner or family.
Commonly, we are listening only to reply to the other person. Change it up. Try listening to what the other person is saying to understand, not to reply.
National Day of Dialogue is an annual event held on January 5.
The Bottom Line is this: You and your partner or friend or associate MUST want to dialogue!

Yesterday was the end of the National Football League Regular Season Year 2025.
Today’s Trivia.. IF our combined memories are accurate..
Patti and I did not watch one single minute, of one single NFL or other football game, this past season!
Will we watch any of the playoffs?

“According to the U.S. census, more Americans watch birds than play baseball and American football combined.” Wow! That is a mind-blowing number. Other than Gullible, I don’t think I know anybody that’s a bird watcher. Although it’s possible they just don’t talk about it, but I would think that’s something that would come up in conversation. I do however know a ton of people who love baseball and/or football. But I would bet bird watching people also know a lot of people who don’t like baseball or football. My biological mom despised both sports. She thought it was a waste of time, and a distraction. And it truly is. After I watch a game, what have I accomplished? In the good old days, before my health took a nose dive, I did a lot of other things but I still found time for 49er games and, occasionally, a Giants games.
Kathleen sometimes I question NATIONAL TODAY statements. Such as them stating that ..“According to the U.S. census, more Americans watch birds than play baseball and American football combined.”
Why Oh Why would the U.S. Census be interested in bird watchers Kathleen?
Exactly. Sitting idly watching football or baseball or basketball or or or sports games in general on television is a bit of a waste of time because while watching sports or news or or or you are NOT doing other activities.

AH, yes. A special day to honor our birds. You call me a birder, but I am actually a bird photographer, and there is a difference. Birders are crazy. Bird photographers, not so much.
This past summer, I noticed that there were far fewer birds at Tern Lake and I suspect that bird flu is the cause. Other people have commented on the same thing where they live.
The advent of digital photography and then COVID saw a great increase in the number of people who took up watching and photographing birds. It is far more challenging than photographing animals, I can assure you.
I have the feeling there is more to the below statement you made than meets the eye.
You call me a birder, but I am actually a bird photographer, and there is a difference. Birders are crazy. Bird photographers, not so much.

Not sure I’m a “birder”, but I’ve always acknowledged our coexistence. Fascinating creatures to observe when left to their own.
Here I love watching the bald eagles and other, prolific in number, raptors. Bullies of the nature world, but nevertheless phenomenal to watch as long as they let me.
I always admire Gullible’s amazing photographs, especially of birds I have never heard of, nor am likely to ever see. Thanks for that Gullible.

You are correct about raptors (Birds of prey) being “bullies”. We once saw an eagle, in mid-air, seize a flying seagull and fly off with it. Brutal. Gullible sure is a great photographer isn’t she. Are.. You.. Fully.. Moved.. In.. Kit and Tim. Smiles .. Cap and Patti
