Hello NATIONAL TODAY..

International Thank-You Day is celebrated yearly on January 11.
This day was founded to recognize the importance of always saying thank you.
THANK YOU DAY is a day that serves as a reminder that we ought to express our gratitude to those who have made our lives better in some way.
What better month to reflect on this than at the beginning of the year?
We often forget to say, “Thank you,” because we take it for granted or we assume that others know how we feel.
The word ‘thank’ is believed to have originated between c.450 and c.1100. The Old English noun meant “thought. Its meaning progression was documented by the Oxford English Dictionary, and it became “favorable thought or feeling, goodwill.” It evolved further into “kindly thought or feeling entertained towards anyone for favor or services” by the Middle Ages. For the last 500 years, its usage has spread across the world.
It reminds us of basic decency. Treating and talking to others well is a sign of respect.

Back some thirty years ago, Patti and I were in Akron, Ohio, attending an assortment of meetings. We heard a speaker, Jerry Berkley, from Cleveland, Ohio, who gave us the below amazing gift of words.
As he would speak, perhaps every five or so minutes, he would stop, pause, and very seriously and solemnly say the below five words..
TO FEEL GOOD ! DO GOOD !
Then he would resume his talk. We have never forgotten him and his great gift of words.
Several years later, Patti and I were in Akron, Ohio, again. We met a man from Cleveland and asked him if he knew Jerry Berkley. He said yes. I told him our story and asked him to thank Jerry for us. He said that he would and that Jerry was about to “Pass Oh” and how much our thanks to him would mean.
Saying Thank You falls right into this category! When we take time to say Thank You, we feel good!
