Yes!

Yes Indeed!

You are all “Spot On”. Here on our website dotnet, we do indeed have the below categories..

Gambling

Slot Machines

So I can’t deny that I have some interest in Gambling can I?

Here is my “Gambling Story”.

In May of 1954, my High School in Royal Oak, Michigan, had a 3 day boat trip on Lake Huron for all of the graduating seniors to celebrate their upcoming High School Graduation.

Acey Deucey is an extremely simple card game. When you are “up at the table” you are dealt two cards face up. You then bet whether the next card will fall numerically between the first two cards. If it does, you win the amount of your bet.

“Acey-Deucey” (An ace and a Deuce 2) is the best combination. A player tends to bet the whole pot, if they can. This is because the only way an ace-deuce combination can lose is if the third card turned up is also an ace or a deuce.

Get it? Got it? Good!

To this day, I have a “thing” about numbers.

I was in a game of Acey – Deucey and it was my turn. I remembered that three Aces had come up so the Ace was the last of the 4 Aces. I remembered that two Deuces had been played. So there was only one Deuce remaining in the deck.

“I Bet The Pot” .

Yes! The Fourth Deuce was turned up and I had to come up with an equal amount of money in the Pot!

There was about $26 in the Pot.

I Googled it. $26 in 1954 is equivalent in purchasing power to approximately $315.85 today.

I was stunned!

What a horrible feeling overwhelmed me. To this instant I can still feel it!

That Was That For Me And Gambling!

This week Patti asked me IF people gambled on March Madness?

We Googled it..

Yes, people bet heavily on March Madness, with an estimated 60-100 million brackets filled out annually and over $3 billion in legal bets expected on the 2026 NCAA men’s and women’s tournaments. Betting includes office pools, casual wagers with friends, and legal, state-regulated mobile sportsbooks.

My current Gambling

I play the slot machines at the Edgewater Hotel and Casino in Laughlin to keep our TRU-Rewards Program active giving us substantial discounts on room rates.  No I do not win money per se at the Edgewater Slot Machines but we DO get substantial room rate reductions.

Friday, November the 7th, 2025, Patti and I arrived here in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Eddie our neighbor and I have played the slot machines at the Havasu Landing Casino only twice since then. December 30th 2025 was the last time I have played the slot machines here.

For several years now, when in Lake Havasu City,  Monday meant a trip over to the Havasu Landing Casino with my neighbor Eddie.

What happened to our Monday Ritual together? I do not know. I have no answers. I am “ahead” by $26.76 for this visit.

So let me get this “Disclaimer” out of the way.

Yes I have gambled. But, at the same time, I am NOT a gambler!

I even took the “Gamblers Anonymous 20 Question” survey.

You answered YES to 3 question(s).

4. Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? Yes! On the High School Senior Trip!

8. After a win did you have a strong urge to return and win more? Yes Absolutely!

14. Did you ever gamble longer than you had planned? Yes when on a very successful run!

Most compulsive gamblers will answer ‘Yes’ to at least 7 of these questions.

There you have it for Friday the 27th of March 2026.

Awe yes gambling. No I don’t really like the games…too expensive in my book or at least the potential to be expensive. Tim is from Deadwood, SD, a special gambling zoned city. We will wander the town for a walk sometimes, but we don’t lay our money down for betting. Just boring I think, though Deadwood itself is a very, cool old town.
    Enjoy your day!

Hi Kit and Hi Tim.. This I will say: When you hit a payout on a Slot Machine it is a Real Rush! But, over the long run, it is a losing adventure! Yes indeed some friends do gamble, very moderately and wisely, and actually enjoy the adventure. Cap and Patti

Gambling and the rush is a real thing and I, too, have experienced it. But, I never felt like goingto Vegas, and never felt the attraction that others do. I did, but the first time was to look, and the second time was to visit relatives as we were passing through.

Since then, I’ve played the slots at Diamond Tooth Gerty’s Gambling Hall in Dawson City, Yukon Territory. It’s owned and operating by the Klondike Visitir’s Assn., and is the largest employer in Dawson City.

We visited while on an extensive organized snowmachine trip in the winter. KVA opened Gerty’s especially for us, complete with cancan girls. The trips started in Tok, some 200 miles from Dawson City, and we had to get there in one day! Same on the way back,

One year it was minus 43 degrees, both F and C, when we started back to Tok. A couple miles outof Dawson, I-had to find a girl bush. That was quite the operation as I-was wearing all the clothes I brought plus the clothes I bought on sale in Dawson!
