MAY 1, 26.. ‘MAY DAY’.. COUPLES.. CLICKBAIT? ..
MAY DAY is celebrated on MAY 1st..
MAY DAY is a very nice way to welcome in the Month of May and Spring.

May Day, as well as the month of May, has had different meanings for diverse cultures and countries. Today, specifically in the United States as in many other countries, it is a celebration of the season of Spring.
May Day is one of the four ancient Celtic cross-quarter days, making it an astronomical holiday as it falls between the March equinox and June solstice.
Celts used to dance around trees with bright ribbons as a way to welcome in good crops and fertility. Today, schools celebrate the Maypole Dance through spring festivals.

COUPLE APPRECIATION DAY.. is celebrated on May 1st.
Another very pleasant NATIONAL TODAY Holiday to welcome our Spring of 2025.

Whether you’ve just started dating or you’ve been married for many years, it’s important to appreciate your partner. Celebrating the milestones you’ve passed and looking to more happy years in the future helps keep the romance alive. Even the smallest of gestures can make an impact. Do the chores, so your partner can relax, or prepare a nice meal. Romance doesn’t have to be elaborate.
In our personal opinion, Patti and I both realize and appreciate that it takes Two to Tango. Both partners need to, and hopefully want to, work together at their relationship.
A happy couple practices honesty and good communication, and takes each other’s needs seriously.

May 1, 2026 in these Southcentral Alaska parts is no joy. As one commenter put it, “winter with better light.” Blizzard conditions in Turnagain Pass, multiple wrecks, four-foot high waves in Turnagain Arm, very high winds. About the same here, but the snow level is higher.
What a great and fun and enjoyable comment Gullible one of your very best comments. “Winter with better light” so aptly describes it. Cap and Patti
Your National Day info about May Day didn’t jibe with what I had just read in a book about William J Flynn by Jeffery D. Simon, “The Bulldog Detective: William J. Flynn and America’s First War Against the Mafia, Spies, and Terrorists.”
While May Day celebrations in European countries do indeed mark the beginning of summer, with its fertility and so on recognition, plus dancing around a May Pole, in the US, May Day connotes something entirely different.
So, I did some research. Here, May Day “originated in the USA as a cornerstone of the labor movement, specifically commemorating the fight for an eight-hour workday. On May 1, 1886, hundreds of thousands of U.S. workers began a general strike, which led to the deadly Haymarket affair in Chicago, sparking the international, socialist-aligned International Workers’ Day, though the U.S. later designated September for Labor Day. ”
Further: ”
• The 1900 Perspective: By the turn of the century, May Day was seen by many as a day for “speechmaking, parading, bombs, [and] brickbats,” often associated with socialists, communists, and anarchists rather than mainstream labor.”
No May Poles here, unless they are police truncheons.
PS: The book about Flynn is quite interesting. $1.99 on Kindle.
First Gullible, May Day can, and often is, a fun and a joyous Day. The history is what it is! Far to much to go into. This is why I always try to include a link to the NATIONAL TODAY Holiday website Gullible. Interested readers can read much more. It was well after 3am, I was dead tired and out of energy, I just was not up to going that deeply into the darker sides of the May Day Holiday. Cap
If you look at today’s headlines, there were a number of May Day demonstrations and rallies around the country. Anti-this and anti-that.
Yes! Of course! BUT there most likely were those who got some joy and happiness from THEIR May Day! Cap
